AaronChicago
BLOCKER by Afternow A new way to previs with your phone. You can program which camera you'll be using, and different focal lengths. Drop in characters, adjust their height, and sun/light placement. Then figure out blocking. It has a few funky bugs but it's freakin amazing for a free app. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blocker-by-afternow/id1256222832?mt=8 kaylee, TheRenaissanceMan, Jonesy Jones and 3 others 5

salim
I'm going to give it a try. But just curious how easy it is to make your shot list. Can you guys share some screenshots of what you have drafted so far? kaylee

AaronChicago
So far I haven't used it for an actual storyboard. I've mostly been playing around with different focal lengths and character blocking. salim

You are using different centers of your brain doing this, as opposed to other methods like navigating an app. But as far as refinement, polish and the details of focal length, sun direction/light source, this app looks promising. I'm going to try to find something similar for Andriod... kaylee

I'm going to try to find something similar for Andriod... yeah i agree. i mean if needed id be doing both – a thumbnail breakdown of the shots, then go into the previz software last time i tried to the software was pretty clunky and my computer sucked... now theres smartphone apps that blow that stuff away. unreal in general i feel like storyboarding is a super conflict between right brain/left brain... or something. its the old patting your head and rubbing your stomach times a million. but after i get the most BASIC thumbnails down on paper – which in fact are perfectly useable as storyboards themselves, they show focal length, blocking, etc. – then its a whole different situation and its easy. its the initial transfer of words (even words that ~I~ wrote) to cinema language that can be tough!! Matthew Hartman
There are a handful of Android storyboarding apps on Google Playstore, but nothing as refined and polished as "Blocker" in terms of including augmented reality into the workflow. To avoid platform restrictions (which is an old business model approach for successful app building in 2018) we can start looking at web based tools, so that anyone with access to browser can use them. I've played with the following application for a few months and it does require some massaging but it has a pretty nice feature set and it's 100% free too: https://wonderunit.com/storyboarder/ Some others for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plotagon.plotagon https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webgames3d.shotproandroid https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.PowerProduction.StoryBoardQuickDirect https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brakefield.storyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.us.hollywoodcamerawork.shotdesigner https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.reelapps.RAShotListerApp https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chemicalwedding.artemis https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.celtx.script Cheers kaylee
