IronFilm
Quote Multiple Rear Mounts As standard cine lenses, MAVO prime has PL mount, and also provides canon EF and SONY E rear mounts option for customers, since the first camera of many indie filmmakers are full frame canon 5D2 or SONY A7.Like TERRA and MAVO, MAVO Prime lenses have industry-standard mount, also have very high flexibility and versatility. I wonder if these mounts will be swappable at all, and if they'll be swappable by the user in the field? Price for now is is US$11K for a set of five lenses: http://www.kinefinity.com/shop/mavo_prime_lens/?lang=en Also, Pro AV TV just put out this new video, they're the distributors for Kinefinity in the UK:
jonpais
According to an article last month at Newsshooter, these are rebranded NiSi lenses.
IronFilm
Indeed, that is what people are saying on the Kinefinity forums as well.
zerocool22
Why is the mavo called Large format as it is just full frame? As I always thought it was full frame, then medium format, then large format?
IronFilm
"Full frame" is a nonsense size popularized by the Canikon marketing duopoly. Full frame really just means a match between sensor size and image circle the lenses are designed for. In the movie world, S35 is the "standard size" (or S16 in the indie/doco/news worlds). Thus compared to that the MAVO LF is indeed "large format". In the film stills world you had 135 film (also referred to as 35mm film) or medium format as the two main standard sizes that people used. So what is regarded as "large format" depends on what you're referring to as your reference starting point. Kisaha and jonpais
jonpais
And it turns out that the NiSi enses are themselves most likely re-housings of the Bokkelux cine primes, which were to be manufactured in Taiwan. These things sometimes play out like detective stories. There are a bunch of tests of the Bokkelux lenses online. Their own website merely says that their project is dead. Here are some samples:

Speaking of detective work, I did some more digging and found an unlisted video comparing the Bokkelux 75mm prime to other top lenses and confirm the Bokkelux - Nisi - Kinefinity chain here (too long to post in the thread): http://kinecommunity.com/a-primer-kinefinity-mavo-lenses/ IronFilm
