I am not slating the guy. K-pop videos are just not my artistic bent. I know it is the Trump-era and people are a little sensitive about criticism just like him. You can't seem to critique the work of someone these days without it coming across as you hating the living daylights of the person who made it. I certainly don't hate.

I just like to think objectively, that something like this from me, aimed at 800,000 camera users, would have been more useful and Blackmagic would have sold more units. But what the fuck do I know?

Andrew, you do often come across as someone who is resentful, intolerant, often spiteful, takes offence easily and with a grudge against the world.

I think if you were a nicer person, you know, showed kindness, tolerance, humility (unfashionable traits as they are these days), then you might get invited to more events.

I don't mean that in any kind of snide or sarcastic way. I'm serious.

EOSHD Pro Color 5 for Sony cameras EOSHD Z LOG for Nikon CamerasEOSHD C-LOG and Film Profiles for All Canon DSLRs

BMD is a manufacturer of niche products, and as such must be able to locate where a large bulk of potential (and actual) customers are; so Andrew has a point here, viz. BMD has totally missed a golden opportunity to connect with a large number of potential buyers.

They should take a leaf out of other niche players in the industry: Red has its own forum, and forum members could seek out some senior members who have early access to new models for comments and guidance; by a similar token, PhaseOne has a good and reliable presence in getdpi.

I'm also quite amused at Andrew's reference to Cinema5D. I first came across them when I was going through coverages of trade shows, and their Youtube coverages have been the most cringe-worthy of all, by a country mile. I have come to skip them almost all the time and only watch them if they are the only channel that covers a certain product; this has happened a few times to my annoyance.

Yet I agree with most fellow members here that Andrew should not have published that rant. It doesn't do him much good; but it does enhance my trust in him enough that I've just registered as a forum member and composing my first post. YMMV.

This sort of attitude is starting to get on my tits - it's the internet, you post something & you take what comes (the good & the stuff you don't want to hear).

Digital Bolex footage really stands out as something special everytime & such a shame it all went belly up. There is a film on Netflix shot entirely on the DB - "Hashtag Horror" (sorry no symbol for hashtag on my keyboard - fucking macs, suppose apple don't want anyone going on twitter being mean to them!)

When is this camera coming out, so the real tantrums can begin - I need more entertainment on my days off!

Yeah the Digital Bolex footage was inspirational. THAT camera was in the right hands, absolutely.

I am bored over the over-commercialised, over-stylised trash.

Interesting remarks.

I once shot a video for the DJ Paul Van Dyk and got EOSHD mentioned in the YouTube description. Van Dyk has Millions of followers worldwide. I got like... what... 20 referrals?

It's the RELEVANCE of the audience to the product that matters!!!

This comment is a disgrace. Why do you expect to continue to profit from my site in terms of your camera knowledge, whilst being so personally aggressive?

There is a big difference between critiquing the video of a music video producer on your own forum, to going into his house and calling him a resentful and spiteful person who doesn't show kindness or tolerance.

Blackmagic HAVE their own excellent forums (at blackmagicdesign.com), and their employees actively comment on different forums.

You see - there you go taking offence again.  I certainly wasn't being aggressive. If calling for tolerance and kindness is an act of aggression, then I guess we should be very concerned about that dangerous Dalai Lama fellow.

I have zero to gain by talking to you Kieran. I know a troll when I see one!

@seanzzxx That is true. Blackmagic have their own forum as well, which is good on their part but also reduces support costs maybe? RED also of course have a forum but's not on the official website. Canon don't have anything.

Actually as I said before, I wasn't trying to be snidey but to genuinely help you out. If for example, I was looking to work with a person on a project, my criteria would be have they got talent? - but also - can I get on with this person?

Do I constructively criticize you by starting with a string of insults? No!

I have no public image to cultivate and I'm not interested in invitations to events. You want to be perceived in a certain way. It's important to you to be considered important. I'm just letting you know how you often come across and how that can get in the way of what you want. No malice intended on my part.

I think I have to stand up now and shout “I’m Spartacus”.

Without putting this too dramatically though, I owe my career in part to Andrew and EOSHD. I don’t post much as I’m not one of the more illuminated members of this forum. But I make films, albeit at a corporate level, and I have based my gear purchases over the years on Andrew’s reviews, and I’ve bought tutorials and his Pro Color video profiles too. That’s all good, but what I have learned over the years since I discovered EOSHD, and how I have grown in confidence as a filmmaker because of this technical knowledge that I had through Andrew’s expertise was invaluable. I could talk, read and understand so much more about the craft because I had the technical part too. I would always come here first when researching anything camera related, and  would always leave having learned something new or been reminded of something I’d forgotten. And I enjoy reading everyone’s comments, having on so many occasions been close to posting mine, but then would think that I wasn’t necessarily adding to the debate - as might be the case now - so didn’t. But it made me think and helped put things into perspective.

But in the end, I just want to say a massive thank you to you Andrew. You’re absolutely entitled to go off on a rant - particularly because we all should know that in the end, you’re big enough to put your hands up when you believe you’ve not done right by your own standards.

It should be of no surprise that no person commenting on these last couple of articles would be able to change Andrew’s mind about how he felt. That would have been out of character - the character we know that will decimate some aspect of a camera if it merits it, or shout alleluia down a megaphone when a manufacturer knocks the ball outta the park with some feature.

Andrew, well done. Dust may take a while to settle for some, but you deserve some respect for having the balls to speak your mind. Keep up the amazing work you do.

Your definitely not a very positive person when it comes to expressing how you feel about someone else's opinion or art!

Depends on the "art" Dan. I like a lot of stuff out there. Check out Kendy Ty.

This is so motivating. We are all in the same boat! Just trying to share what we know.

There are people who just want to self-promote and glorify themselves by cozying up to camera companies and getting views.

I am glad you've actually been HELPED by the blog and enjoy the technology.

Remember that article about the Samsung NX1 "the glory of technology", I think that's my passion rather than fitting into public relations expectations. I am a nerd. Not a social climber.

I don't understand this fascination camera companies have with pros and their amazing viewing figures.

Because pros use cameras for a living... They have the ability to tell other users (enthusiast and pro alike) how it will operate in the field on a shoot since they depend on those cameras to put food on the table.
