weomck
Just curious as 1/16000 sec is noted in the specifications (for video), but I can't seem to get past 1/4000 sec in movie mode. tried manual everything, S priority, still stops at 1/4000 sec. (keep in mind this is with firmware 1.1) has anyone else ever used this setting ? If so I'd love to know how to do it. thanks
weomck
I'm going to answer my own question here..... after being on hold with panasonic for the past hour.... apparently the electronic shutter is capable of 1/16000 sec, but there's no way to adjust the shutter past 1/4000 sec. why they mentioned the 1/16000 sec to dpreview is beyond me.... just a tease in the end..... guess it's just another example of how they limited the capabilities of the GH2.... wonder if Vitaly could do anything about this....:)
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted December 12, 2011 Administrators Share Posted December 12, 2011 Sounds like a typo. Consider why you'd need that anyway! Under the glow of a nuclear explosion perhaps? :P Get an ND filter and keep the shutter below 1/100 for the most cinematic 'as the eye sees it' motion unless you are doing slow motion Twixtor or action scene stuff. As an aside, one of the things that seems like a bug on the GH2 shutter wise is that the constant live view preview in movie mode gives up at around 1/1600. Shutter speeds higher than that don't affect exposure until you hit record. Quite annoying really.
