http://vimeo.com/69718879

Just for fun, Here's a another quick test of the Magic Lantern Raw firmware on my Canon 50D.
I wanted to see how much I could push the contrast and shadows, but still maintain visibility of the subject ( in this case, car) I was filming.

Camera: Canon 50D with Magic Lantern Raw firmware
Lens: Tokina 11-16mm
Workflow: RAWMagic, AE, ACR, Final Cut

50D Raw Anamorphic Video - 4:3 at 1152 X 864 Low Light Test

For this video, I shot with a slower CF Card (60MBS) that gave me 1152 X 864 resolution at 24 FPS in 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 4 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2304 X 864 in Compressor.

The Canyon - Shot during a two hour trip to the canyon

For this video, I shot with a faster CF Card (100 MBS) that gave me 1344 X 1008 resolution at 24 FPS in 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 6 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2688 X 1008 in Compressor.

Anyone else shooting anamorphic on the 50D in 4:3? Can anyone shoot higher resolution than 1344 X 1008? Thank you.

Leave A Trail - Canon 50D Raw Short Film, 1920 X 1080

Shooting raw on the Canon 50D. I shot with a faster CF Card (100 MBS) that gave me 1584 X 892 resolution at 24 FPS using the newest Magic Lantern Raw hack without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 4 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 1920 X 1080 for Vimeo in Compressor.

So I have been following the Canon Raw development and like everyone else here I am sure, think it is exciting times indeed!  Now with the price drop of the MIcro 4/3's BMCC, it makes it both confusing and exciting times ahead...

So, this potentially a very stupid newbie question but here goes anyway....

Does the new Canon Firmware that enables you to record to an external recorder have any place with the Magic Lantern Raw developments with the 5DIII?  There seems to be so much talk about recording with a fast enough CF card for shooting RAW, does there exist or is it at all likely in the future to exist, a possibility to record RAW on the 5DIII onto one of these external recorders?

Ok, thanks so much, look forward to hearing any thoughts or responses.

Hi, I bought the 5d3 Eos Guide to Magic Lantern raw. It's great, thank you Andrew, great work!

One thing I'm a bit confused about; playback.

I understand when shooting a take there's a short drop out of picture and then you can monitor what you're filming in the live view.

And I realise you can't playback any clips on a computer without converting them to another format.

I've been looking on the Magic Lantern formum but can't see anything there, are MagicLanter developing a way to playback the raw video on the dslr's after you've finished recording? Is it possible? Will it be possible?

thanks for your help

adam
