Looks like the mirrorless FF war just got a new contestant..

Zeiss-RX.jpg

– Announcement before Photokina
– This is a fixed lens Full Frame camera
– It uses Sony tech (probably RX1II based).
– Price around $3,000
– Probably has a prime lens (35mm f/2.0?)
– Slightly bigger lens construction than you get on the Sony RX1 series.
– lens is autofocus

Shouldn't carry the premium pricetag of either Hassy or Leica and hopefully won't just be a rebranded Sony RX but actual technical upgrade. Contax Zeiss are still some of my favorite film camera/lens combos of all time.

I hope if it is more expensive than the already very expensive Sony RX1 II, then it is actually BETTER and not just a cash grab.

Or high-value added... as a marketing department would say!

It should have a better Zeiss optic if so...as the RX1 lens has been around a long while now... It's a great lens, but the AF mechanism is clunky as is the manual focus ring.

I love the RX1 and RX1R II though... Not perfect, but two of my all-time favourite stills cameras and the most fun to use Sony.

Oh and 4K would be nice.

Otherwise, I will just stick to my Sony!

Will be interesting to see what job Zeiss do on the ergonomics. German companies tend to be very minimalist, which is a good thing. Leica.

Zeiss lenses have tended to be superb ergonomically and build quality wise as well...

Innovative touches like the OLED panels on the Batis range are a good sign they know what they're doing in 2018.

The Chinese translation supposedly says its going to fill a void in the photo market. A left handed camera would certainly do just that.

I am surprised nobody has yet tried something wild an innovative like a camera grip which you can screw onto either side of the camera body, so you can choose which side depending on what is more comfortable for you.
