For someone who was saying this thread was going nowhere, I do have to applaud your contribution in taking it somewhere. Well, back in time by 2 months and 10 pages does count as taking it somewhere I guess webrunner5
Mmmbeats
Here's a worthwhile look at the physical aspects of the camera (unfinalised), in comparison to the existing line-up: https://www.lumixgexperience.panasonic.co.uk/learn/expert-advice/panasonic-lumix-s1r-size-and-layout-comparison-gallery

This wasn't announced initially but it was part of a few leaked specs not too long ago. One of the other leaked specs that has yet to be confirmed is an internal variable ND. What are the chances of that? Would automatically make these cameras top dogs for mirrorless video (which they may be regardless).

Kisaha
I am expecting a double digit nunber for the DR! Does anyone have any experience with the L mount? What are the pros and cons? For me, bodies come second and lenses come first. Most cameras are amazing these days (except Canon) but the rest of the ecosystem is what interests me more. I want a few (or a couple) cheap and small pancakes with one of those definitely a fish eye, a fast pro workhorse (24mm - XXmm), an UWZ, a small-ish prime for portraits, a tele (or two) and a cheap-ish all arounder zoom (18-135/18-105/18-200/something), all in all 6 to 8 lenses. Also, I would like a couple of different form factors for the bodies, a very good pro one, and a prosumer smaller one.

I have two T/L mount bodies and zero L mount lenses so obviously the biggest con (and some would say in both senses of the words) is the price of the lenses. Not that that means that I have a shortage of lenses to mount on them as via cheap M and R adapters as intermediaries there aren't too many restrictions. So even if Panasonic and Sigma don't come up with the expected goods in terms of hugely cheaper native lenses, you still won't be struggling for something to film through albeit manually, which won't faze many people on here anyway. And if the EVF on it is as good as the one on the SL then no one will be crying into their beer about it.

So they (panny guys) better start trying to find the casino exit ASAP. But your right, could take days, even with a search and rescue team. Oh look, another black jack table. Emanuel
First production units in the end of March as far as they say: "Panasonic Announces Additional Key Functions for the New Full-frame Mirrorless Camera at CES 2019 Las Vegas, NV (January 7, 2019) – Following an announcement at Photokina 2018, Panasonic will unveil additional key features of the new LUMIX S full-frame mirrorless cameras at CES 2019. The LUMIX S full-frame mirrorless cameras and lenses will be available at the end of March 2019.* A Whole New Style of Photo Expression High Dynamic Range Still Photo – HLG Photo Mode HLG Photo allows images to be shot with a wider dynamic range. By reproducing both glaring lights and dark shadows that are likely to be overexposed or underexposed, the Lumix S achieves rich, precise color expression as close as possible to visual memory. 43rumors HLG Photos are produced as an HSP file. The user can play back these vibrant images on the latest Panasonic HLG-compliant 4KTV via HDMI cable connection or other HLG- compliant devices. It is also ideal for photographers’ photo presentations. Stunning Details with a Realistic Sensation High Resolution Mode Taking advantage of the Body Image Stabilizer. (I.S.) mechanism, eight consecutive images are automatically shot while shifting the sensor. These eight images are synthesized into a single image by the new Venus Engine, which boasts high-speed signal processing. Precise details are faithfully reproduced to be saved as a beautiful, highly realistic image. This mode is ideal for shooting natural landscapes or fine art objects with delicate details. Considering situations where moving subjects are included in the scene, sub options are available to suppress motion blur, so photographers can use this mode the same as shooting in a normal photo shooting mode. *Availability date may vary depending on the sales area •Design and specifications are subject to change without notice."
