Depends on the individual setup as to what works best. Watch the resource monitor while it performs particular tasks but the key to Resolve performance in IME with H.264 and other highly compressed codecs is to generate optimised media and use cache rendering and for this you need a good GPU. thephoenix
hi all wondering if it would be a good id to go straight to a 2070 GC instead of a 1070. 2070 prices are not that far from 1070 and the gain might be significant. what do you think ? Great for games but not too sure about 4K editing, but...too new to know yet I guess. Price seems good though. https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2018/08/22/geforce-rtx-60-fps-4k-hdr-games/

thephoenix
according to you, what amount of ram is best for video editing and grading on resolve ? 32 or 64 ?
webrunner5
I think 32gb is more than enough to be honest.
thebrothersthre3
Getting by with 8 right now lol, not ideal tho. Seems like processor and GPU is really the critical part. I need more storage more than I do RAM right now though, just tried to render something to find I had 1gb left on my SSD ?
thephoenix
seems that so far the answer is 32go for 4k and 64go is best for 6k 8k https://www.cgdirector.com/ram-video-editing/ i think i will stick to
