I really found it a lot more useful than any existing small sensored action cam/small cam - and they are that also. The stabilization is incredible (from 5.7K to 4K) and you can match it alright with normal footage in Premiere (do not know about Resolve, never tried) with the free GoPro/Kolorpano plug ins. The low light performance is terrible though, can't use it after dark and I do not like to mix small sensored footage with bigger one. Ricoh has a new 1" one with better low light performance In a couple of year, when 8K will be normal, and someone put a few m43 sensors there, they could literally replace normal cameras for a lot of uses. webrunner5

I agree the one x style cameras is the future of action cam and for some usage even normal camera. I have one and once reframed the quality is just barely usable but it is so much easier to film especially for things that you cannot retake.... making timeshift with this is soo easy... you can also mimic gimbal and drone shoot (using a long pole) with ease. Workflow could be better... lcd is almost useless as lowlight.... but reframing in post is just more easy and convenient.... similar form factor with 1inch 8k 24/5 fps and 5.7k 50/60fps I would buy even for 4 time the price kye and Kisaha
MeanRevert
Bigger question for me is how DJI will do in the action cam market when the leader is having great difficulty already.

For a simple reason. Because it's not their core business... They add themselves to the trouble of such leader as matter of fact, which in practice means to be part of the problem... : -)

webrunner5
That is pretty damn good footage from something people might consider a Toy camera. Juank and Emanuel

In terms of what is a toy, if a 15 year-old kid who saved up money from a part-time job they worked after school to buy this, they'd be confident they've gotten the best pocket camera that money can buy. When the cinematographer who still prefers to shoot IMAX large format film for their features, but is resigned to the fact that they are sometimes forced by practicality to use an ARRI Alexa LF, looks at a P4K (or even an UMP) they may very well consider them to be toy cameras. It's all a matter of perspective. webrunner5, Emanuel and Katrikura 1

DBounce
Yeah the Osmo Pocket is a great little camera. DJI make a Pro version with a S35 sensor, HDR mode and good codec and I will preorder immediately. The Osmo Action has an edge in convenience, as it’s rugged design means it can be carried without too much special accommodations. Also HDR mode is awesome. The Pocket, once fitted with the thumb controller and WiFi module no longer fits in the supplied case. Both of these must have accessories should have been built in to the Pocket. Saramonic is much better, I would choose it for scratch sound but for anything serious I would be looking for a much better solution. Maybe a Rode Go or the new cheap Sennheiser wireless for voice recording, or an external solution (DR-60/DR100mkii or iii with a real microphone) for anything/everything else. The Saramonic with the Go could be sufficient for a v-logger/serious amateur/good family videos. webrunner5
