I think it will. It basically is with Olympus cameras. Actually, have you tried the OM-1? I know a lot of pros use Olympus cameras underwater. Problem with FF is not the housing in itself. It's the dome/port which goes with a wydeangle FF lens. Yes Olympus camera are well renowed among pro uw photographers but for video, Pana features are in another league. For underwater photography, prior of the latest mirrorless FF revolution the market king was Nikon with its D850. With the new Z series and new mirrorless mount Nikon failed to give a valid lens selection for underwater use and now most photographers are switching to Sony A7R line. It's a complicated topic. A stellar lens topside could be the worst underwater. kye and John Matthews
Matthew Capowski
My existing SSD's were too slow to use with the Ninja V for 5.8K ProRes RAW. So I grabbed a Samsung 870 EVO which is rated very fast. Yet I'm still getting the Kangaroo (too slow SSD) icon pop up on the Ninja V when trying to record 5.8K ProRes RAW. Has anyone else tried the 870 EVO for this purpose? Same result? What drives are you guys using for the 5.8K ProRes RAW?

I thought you needed the V+ for that.

HDMI RAW 5.8K 4:3 Anamorphic 23.98p, 25p, 29.97p* Only 29.97p requires the V+. 23.98 and 25p work on the V. John Matthews
Matthew Capowski
It looks like there is an issue with some Ninja V's regardless of what media you use regarding skipping and RMA is the only option in this case:
lsquare
So I'm reading that ProRes 422 HQ can only be recorded at a max resolution of 5.7K with a 17:9 aspect ratio. Apparently, open gate recording isn't supported and must be shot at 4:2:0. Can I set the GH6 to record ProRes video to the CFExpress card and photos to the SD card? Does the GH6 have frame/aspect ratio guides? Can i impose a 16:9 guide with a rule of thirds grid on the 5.7K/17:9 area? Can someone please take a picture showing this for me? Is the fan loud enough that the microphones can pick it up? What is a good microphone to use with the CLR adapter to record ambient sound? Is face detection and AF decent enough for video? Correct. 420 in opengate. 16 minutes ago, lsquare said: Can I set the GH6 to record ProRes video to the CFExpress card and photos to the SD card? Yes. 16 minutes ago, lsquare said: Is the fan loud enough that the microphones can pick it up? I've never heard it, but I haven't really tested that either. 17 minutes ago, lsquare said: Is face detection and AF decent enough for video? No. Not in continuous focus- it will have focus wobbles. lsquare

lsquare
3 hours ago, Davide DB said: Thank you so much. I don't think I can get a rule of thirds grid imposed with the frame marker. The video seems to show a rule of thirds grid on before the guy went to activate a frame marker. Once that was enabled, it seems like the grid disappeared. lsquare
Can someone that owns the GH6 able to confirm if it's possible to sync the camera with a PC or smartphone to UTC time? If so, how?

I'm assuming the camera when using auto will get the time from the phone when it's synchronized through the Lumix app? I'm also assuming that if I want UTC, then I'll also need to set my phone's time to UTC prior to synchronizing? Thank you!
Super Members BTM_Pix Posted June 19 Super Members Share Posted June 19 The full user guide is available here. Its searchable, so, as I've done here putting "time" in the search gives you all the info you will need. https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/dscoi/DC-GH6/html/DC-GH6_DVQP2441_eng/searchresult.html?search=time

Why would I need a GH6 when the auto clock set is a function of the Lumix Sync app that is common to the Panasonic cameras that I do have ? To answer your question, the camera syncs to whatever time and timezone you have set on the of the device . lsquare
Flaaandeeers
Hi everyone. I started my journey with a GH2 and the EOSHD guide more than 12 years ago, but have not had a video-centric camera in a while.... I'm a professional screenwriter and only a hobbyist director, and now I want to make some short films for fun with a couple of friends to exercise the filmmaking muscle (mostly narrative, maybe some doc stuff). Even if I don't have a video camera now, I already have a Blazar Nero 1.5x anamorphic adapter that I tried and really like, so I'm now looking for a budget friendly camera setup to pair the Blazar and a nice taking lens with. After digging the local used market (I live in the 3rd -or 4th- world, so it has to be local) I've narrowed my options to the Lumix GH6 and the ZCAM S6 for around the same price. Maybe the ZCAM even a bit cheaper with a SmallRig cage and the GH6 a bit newer / open box. Third option would be a mint BMPCC 6K Pro for about the same price, but now open gate so idk... What would you choose / recommend for my use case? (Lumix S5 IIx is double the other 2 cameras price so I kinda ruled it out) Thanks! eatstoomuchjam
Between the GH6 and the E2-S6, I'd say that the main considerations would be that the E2-S6 has a bigger S35 sensor. You can swap mounts on the E2-S6, but you can also adapt just about anything that can be purchased as a first-party mount for E2-S6 to Micro 4/3 anyway. The GH6 will be easier to use handheld (has IBIS), but the E2-S6 may be more suitable for rough usage (like mounting on a vehicle on a bumpy road) due to the lack of IBIS. If you won't already be using an external monitor, the E2-S6 will also cost a bit more since the 1" internal screen, while it has an option to show a preview, nobody is going to claim that's usable. You may also consider what happens if either camera breaks - will you be able to get service on either one in your country? One other camera to consider, if you are able to find one in your local market, would be the Fuji X-S20. It costs less than the others and also supports open gate at 6K.
