kye
I haven't been following this thread as this isn't a camera for my style of shooting, but wow.... those specs! Perhaps the most interesting mode for me would be "6144x2592 @75fps max (DCI 6K 2.4:1)".. 6K, widescreen, 75fps is a very interesting resolution! and who knows, there might be a later firmware update to get higher frame rates from the lower resolutions perhaps? The FPS is good, but at 2.4:1 that’s just chopping off the top and bottom of the frame. This is not a real anamorphic mode.

This is not a real anamorphic mode. Yeah but a normal kind of mode is 2.39:1. 2.4:1 is really not that far off. You are not loosing much. Now matching it would be a problem. I am sure there is a way to match it even in the normal NLE's.
Zak Forsman
Sorry for being a nerd: DCI 4K Scope (2.39:1) is 4096x1716. So there's actually a few more horizontal pixels here to play with. Their 4096x1728 and 6144x2592 work out to 2.37:1. So I think they're just listing 2.40:1 as a rough way of saying it's basically scope. webrunner5

Alain Compost
I used a RED Helium 8K recently to film shy animals like the Javan Rhinoceros, a very rare and sensitive animal. It was a disaster as the camera was so noisy ( the fan like a hair dryer ! ) that I could only film a few seconds before the animal rushed away ! Beside the noise, it takes 30 seconds for the camera to be ready so I had to be on stand by all the time, draining all my batteries ..... I really hope that Z cameras have addressed all these problems, especially for documentary film makers ....
zerocool22
The only thing that I find weird is that everybody is going bonkers over a paid update on another cam, but nobody is talking about the 600 euro price increase on the f6 body. I'd be miffed if I purchased something without knowing I'd have to pay for a firmware update, as opposed to an increase in price for a camera I hadn't purchased yet. andjo
Flannel Ninja seems to be one of the first to get a pre-production unit of the F6 and I'm sure he will post a review soon as well: Here is his impression of the S6:

thebrothersthre3
The F6 seems hard to beat with that variable ND. The S1H is nice but this has internal RAW(probably prores as well), internal ND's (depending on the mount you use I assume), and 4k 120fps. zerocool22

I planned to get rid of the E2 when the F6 shipped, but the E2 has plenty of it's own strengths so I've decided to keep it as a B-Cam. Thats a good idea. What strengths do you see in the E2 over the F6? Rolling shutter will probably be better, better high frame rate options, and of course it is smaller and lighter. Maybe better battery life as well. Do you have any idea how timecode will work on the flagships? A long time ago, either Jason or Kinson implied there would be an adapter from the camera to allow a further stacking of their existing COM-BNC timecode accessory on top of that, but i hope that there is a simpler way.
