how can i get f/0.95 on the Lumix S1?

there is a Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 III Lens for Sony E but I can't find an E to L adapter... only EF to L and SA to L from sigma.

Mitakon makes the same lens in RF but not EF.

My purpose is to shoot video in dark nightclubs in low light.  I want to spend up to 4000 for the camera, adapter and lens.  Is this setup even a good strategy?  Thanks for any advice.

No the E-mount lenses won't go on, but not a lot of difference between F0.95 and F1.2 for low light really. The S1 is also extremely clean at high ISO so it's questionable you even need faster than F2 for nightclubs.

Cheaper than the Mitakon too.

I don't really think its necessary. 1.4 is very fast on full frame especially since you can crank the iso up pretty high.

but going sub f/1 will double the amount of light from f/1.4, correct?  making an image twice as bright with no increase in noise?  it seems like a significant difference.

I will look into the 7Artisans, thank you.  but with either lens it requires an adapter, correct?  aside from losing the features of the lens like stabilization and auto-focus, is there a negative effect to using an adapter with a lens that is not native?

I find f/1.8 pretty fast enough nowadays on the best sensor performance available today of MFT size per se, go figure... LOL : -)

If you don't already own an S1 then you might consider if a different camera has better high-ISO performance or DR.  I'm not saying there is one, but it would be worth checking against things like the A7III, etc.

thanks.  the a7iii has very little noise at high iso in dark settings but i'm avoiding that camera because it only does 8 bit color.  can't wait for the a7siii but it seems like it is a long way away.  the s1 tests i've seen online appear to have similar performance to the a7iii and a7sii.  i haven't seen another camera that comes close to those for lacking noise at high iso in low light.  i completely understand the gut feeling that 1.4 and 1.8 are very fast but i have spent the last year watching footage captured in dark nightclubs and i feel that i am hyper sensitive to the amount of noise and detail that can be captured at in those dark environments.  my goal is to try to get the best possible exposure... full frame, 10 bit and around f/1.

Good luck focussing on club subjects at that aputure and sensor size. Extremely difficult task.

Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 with the A7III or A7s II. Plenty brightness for your needs and sharp from wide open. Anything wider or faster on full frame will up your budget considerably.

Actually that isnt correct. F stops measure the aperture. Light transmission is measured in T stops. The T stop is always higher than the f stop as some light is lost in transmission through the lens. The faster the f stop lens you use - typically the greater the amount of light you lose.

So as an example....

the olympus 25 1.2 is t stop 1.8 and the panasonic 25 1.7 is t stop 2.0

So, as a guess, if you go from f1.2 to f0.95 you will probably only gain a third of a stop more light.
