Jakebake
Hello everyone, I want a field monitor for my a7iii but only for photography to have a bigger screen for composition and focus. I know most people use these for video so I can not find much info on the subject. I just received the feelworld ma6 monitor because I thought its relatively inexpensive and could do the trick. This thing seems awesome and is very light and pretty much what I'm looking for except there are a few issues with the a7iii. When I first connected to the monitor it shows all the functions, auto focus, menu etc on the monitor but blacks put the camera screen. I found out if you change hdmi settings, ctrl for hdmi to off it will show the image on both the camera and the monitor but the focus point and all that is only on the camera monitor. I just want it to mirror the camera screen. I dont know if I can make due with only having the monitor on because you cant tap to change focus points or anything and the EVF doesnt work either incase I want to use that. The other way it's kind of useless because I still have to look at the camera screen. Does anyone know how to fix this or if it's even possible? I guess I am willing to spend more money if it's just a limitation of this monitor because having experienced the bigger monitor is awesome. Lastly, when I put the camera into movie mode the image on the monitor takes up the whole screen when in manual mode it has black bars on both sides. I think the resolution is less and I am willing to live with this if I can get it working properly. Thanks!!

scotchtape
That is just how it is with Sony cams. Depending on the mode you get difference behaviours, nothing you can do about it (you can't get screen on with 4K recording etc)
