Administrators Andrew Reid Posted September 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted September 16, 2013 TrueSense Imaging's sensors are behind the Ikonoskop and Digital Bolex cameras. Traditionally known for their CCDs, the company is now stepping into CMOS for the first time. Alex Carignan
13 stops of Dynamic Range with Global shutter would be PERFECT for the GH4. If it could shoot 1080p/120 or at least 720p/120 I would buy it in a heartbeat. nazdar
dsavage
Just give me dynamic range and better low-light performance. Those have been my biggest hangups on my GH2. I haven't found myself yearning for 4K or any of the storage and processing issues it brings with it. Since we're making out wishlists, it would be awesome to have less compression introduced in-camera. Maybe the option to record to DNxHD or ProRes? If Blackmagic can tell customers that they have to buy a faster SD card, then why can't Panasonic? Good to see all of the GH4 teasers today. Sounds like you know the right people. Tone13
I don't want 4K at the expense of high dynamic range , lowlight performance and 50p. If they can do the MFT sized sensor with 13 stops DR, 50p and recording to switchable RAW/ProRes or DNxHD that would be perfect. Oh and don't forget the FOCUS PEAKING! Julian
This won't go in the 'GH4' since it's a low megapixel sensor. Photographers aren't gonna be happy with 2K. Even the 4K sensor is 'only' 12 megapixels max. Still, this stuff looks nice. Curious what it will end up in!
Jaime Valles
I'd love it if the next GH camera had internal 4K 10 bit recording! The GH4K... I like the sound of that. nahua
nahua
I'm all for 10bit recording as well. Doesn't matter if is 4K, regular 1080P60P is fine, but let's get 10-12bit recording please. Francisco Rios
Xiong
1080p 60fps with a global shutter at 13 stops would be all that is needed for average use. Dont really need anything higher then 1080p if it was to risk 13 stops and a global shutter.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted September 17, 2013 Author Administrators Share Posted September 17, 2013 A TrueSense sensor would not likely be destined for a Panasonic, as they're making their own sensors. After a brief trip to Sony for the GH3, the GX7 once again has a Panasonic chip in it. A Four Thirds sized chip from TrueSense would more likely be destined for the Blackmagic and Digital Bolex type cameras of this world. ND64
apparently that 82db is available in 2x2 binning mode. full resolution is just 70db
johnnymossville
I really like the idea of a large pixel micro 4/3rds size sensor. potential for great low light, low noise and a less shallow depth of field than full frame is great for shooting events where it's much easier to catch focus quickly. Tzedekh
I'm a little underwhelmed by this sensor. The Aptina sensors have better dynamic range.
Henry Gentles
A bit off topic but saw this recently, http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/157082-graphene-sensor-is-1000-times-more-sensitive-to-light-could-enable-ultra-low-light-photography
