The S1H seems to do the same processing and therefor has the same issues as the S1. That means only recording RAW externally may help... Yeah, I had real high hopes for this because Panasonic gets so much right. But these kind of problems make a camera unusable in many situations. deezid

The infamous ghosting issue from the GH5 which was fixed with firmware 2.0 made its comeback. Really thinking about selling the camera again. All my artificial light shots are basically messed up. What kind of recording was it? Internal, external?

But external is affected as well since the processing is done before encoding. Already tried it using an odyssey 7q+ recording prores
deezid
Started debugging with Nick Driftwood. Seems like only V-Log is affected. Only V-Log is affected by the strange gamut clipping issue. Wondering what is going on... 35 minutes ago, Thpriest said: Yeah, I had real high hopes for this because Panasonic gets so much right. Also no gamut clipping. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pP3N3uPVIQhYYshomAZGhWJjHsNO0I3L

Whenever V-Log gets updates I would prefer the S1 - even in terms of color. But right now I would prefer shooting on BMD Pocket cameras. thephoenix
if i get all this right, you're waiting weeks for the vlog firmware to be shipped. so how long will you wait to get the vlog fw update ? ? (and we got to hope that it will fix the issue)

Need the camera in late October for another big project in Ghana... Sage
Mike Mgee
@deezid Imma wait till the end of the financial year before making a decision. But the footage you shot makes the camera look very promising. Hopefully Panasonic will fix their S1 issues by then. If not there always the RED Komodo. funkyou86
How and when is this blue clipping occurring in V-Log? I just shot a scene where my main keylight had CTB gels and my footage is clean.

I also shot a talent [who wore a blue dress] in direct sunlight, now I'm wondering why didn't that happened to my footage. I'm still new to S1 so probably have to do some additional tests... This just happened with my colorchecker in direct sunlight Whenever there's something blue and slightly overexposed in your shot (like objects outside a window) be prepared to run into issues like that. There's no roll-off for blues at all, almost like they did forget about adding it... Patrick B.
I thought part of the advantage of having full v-gamut was to avoid things like this. ?

nathlas
Ι believe it's a problem that could be solved through firmware. Has anyone notfied Panasonic for this ?
Patrick B.
Good question. I believe it was also noted in the Newshooter S1H article when he referred to the “highlight bleed” in the blue channel.

If they haven't had an Apollo 13 operation running on this for the past 96 (or however many) hours, then they may as well start selling taffy (whatever taffy is).
