Anamorphic Sideways

Hello,

I want to shoot with an anamorphic lens adapted sideways. The camera shoots 16:9 and I want to use a 1.33x Anamorphic Lens.

With what aspect ratio do I end with. I calculated it like this:

1920/1.33= 1443

so end aspect ratio = 1920x1443

or do I have to do it like this: 1080x1.33 = 1436

so like 1920x1436

What is the right way to calculate this? Hope you can help me :)

You can either multiply 1080 * 1.33 and get 1920x1436

or

divide 1920 / 1.33 and get 1443x1080.

It just depends on whether you want to stretch or shrink your pixels.

BUT, if I were you, I would put the camera sideways and then use 2x scope normally.

This would give you 2160 x 1920

or

1080 x 960

Remember that an anamorphic adapter in a sideway position will give you vertical flares like this:
