Brian Williams
Can’t afford that $300 Sigma loupe so making my own. A newer version is printing now that will be collapsible (also sanded and painted so not bright yellow) billdoubleu and buggz
Waynes
Why don't they do a rotating sensor so you can use it vertically without unnusual rolling shutter issues?
rawshooter
Rookie question: Does the Sigma fp crop the sensor when recording 4K CinemaDNG from 6K sensor, or is the CinemaDNG downsampled (like MagicLantern Raw)? Same question re: the 2K CinemaDNG recording...

Lars Steenhoff
A square sensor could work for both orientations, and with two readout modes.
abehalpert
The color in some of these videos looks beautiful. But a lot of the saturated colors in the Philip Bloom video were really loud and videoish.

In general, I'm not a big fan of Bloom's grading. Sometimes he pulls it off, but I feel he pushes things a little too far a little too often. heart0less and Video Hummus

Careful.. someone will read this and take it one step further and we'll end up with some 2-bit cinema camera company. We've had those before and they only leave broken promises and heartbreak in their wake! Waynes

It looks like a little thin pocket Red Epic that way. But then you have to rotate the screen.

nathlas
To be honest I prefer the ungraded version.
markr041
My test of 8bit DNG RAW straight to an sd card. I also conclude that having the full dynamic range of the sensor, no color subsampling, and no compression that DNG RAW provides may be a lot more important than 8 versus 10bits. mercer and austinchimp

I think in terms of dynamic range 12 bit yields cleaner shadows than 8, probably the main practical advantage.

Yeah, which also means that you can expose to preserve/better roll off the highlights (which in the above material do sometimes clip), since with 12bit,. you can raise gamma and shadows in post without getting color tearing artefacts.
