newfoundmass
I've been having trouble lately on long shoots with my feet, particularly my heels, being in a lot of pain. It seems to have gotten worse as I get older; I'm a big guy (320 pounds) who has lost 140 pounds, but somehow it's gotten worse (go figure!) Does any one have any suggestions, be it techniques or shoe insoles that'll help relieve the pain from standing and moving around all day? I tried Google but I'm overwhelmed by all of the options. I just would prefer my poor heels and feet not hurt like a mofo! Getting old stinks!
Kisaha
I found Adidas various Boost shoes to be the most comfortable. I have various ones for different occasions (for warm days, with Gore-Tex when outside on a rainy day, for cold days e.t.c). Shoes are maybe the most important part of our equipment! newfoundmass
Mako Sports
Adidas Ultra Boost, most comfortable shoes ever. A bit on the pricey side however. newfoundmass and Kisaha
tupp
Change shoes between the first half and second half of the day. newfoundmass and Xavier Plagaro Mussard
newfoundmass
Looking at those Ultra Boost shoes. I'm thinking I might try some soles first, since they're a bit costly, but I think I'll pick up a pair when I'm ready to get new ones. I have a decent pair of Adidas that I wear, and I'm really happy with them for general use. Any recommendations on soles? 1 hour ago, tupp said: Change shoes between the first half and second half of the day. leslie
i'd see a doctor or podiatrist, there may be some underlying issue that specialist care will diagnose which would probably end up being a cheaper and more comfortable option in the long run ( no pun intended ) newfoundmass

They're definitely up there, as I'm finding out! I've never really had a problem until recently. I do wonder if it's related to my weight loss somehow. I figured if anything though it'd have helped! But maybe it's thrown my walking off balance or something? 7 minutes ago, leslie said: i'd see a doctor or podiatrist, there may be some underlying issue that specialist care will diagnose which would probably end up being a cheaper and more comfortable option in the long run ( no pun intended ) I've thought about that, but really, in my every day life it's not a problem at all. It's just video shoots, especially on hard floors, where it kills me.
Kisaha
Ultraboost for sure. I am wearing one right now! They have black friday discounts at the moment, or you can try at an outlet. Usually they go 30-40% down in just 3-4 months after release. You can get 2018 version for even 50% at some outlets. I have 1) supernova with Boost and climahot (fur) for cold 2) another Boost with more stability 3) ultraboost for very light and breathable 4) boost with GoreTex for rainy days or lightly off road situations. I carry more kilo's than i care to think about... in theory losing weight should make everything else easier, getting older does suck and it does complicate things. A visit to a gp will quickly rule out several possibilities and narrow the problem down. buying a pair of shoes may help alleviate the pain for now but may not lead to a long term solution. i know this because when i turned 50 i had to get glasses for general day to day stuff. turned 51 i had to get reading glasses, now i'm 52 its time i upgraded the general day to day glasses? having lived long enough to get to a mature age, wisdom for me, dictates that i start looking after things so that i can live a life and not end up some decrepit grumpy old man. Edit : i should add that i wear steal cap boots for everything regardless of what i am doing . I am however glad to get home and put my feet up ? newfoundmass
Cinegain
Y'all have to size up your Boosts as well? Bought like 4 pairs in the last few months (2 of which are winterized) and I'm up at 47 1/3 for the Ultraboost and 46 2/3 on Sense- & Pulseboost in meanwhile. Da frick?! Used to be 44/45 for most of my 20's (and 45's still good with some brands), but either my feet keep growing or Adidas has a weird new size structure or tighter fits with the new 3D knit mesh. I like my shoes slightly loosy goosy. But indeed! Adidas make some great looking comfy as fudge shoes, that's for sure. Also... I use activated carbon infused bamboo inlays to keep 'em fresh. P.s. I thought this topic was about craft services with 'food' misspelled ?

Inazuma
It was a tongue in cheek post but on a serious note, finding the right shoe is the main solution. You can also use gel-based insoles.
kye
I'll second the above comments about seeing a medical professional just as a precaution, but if you're up for googling then maybe look up what nurses wear, not necessarily as fashion advice but I'm sure they're talking about being comfortable on their feet all day on hard floors but wanting budget options, or at least talking about why it's a thing and what can be done easily about it. Plus they have easy access to doctors so might actually know stuff about what causes it etc..
Mmmbeats
Look into plantar fasciitis. It's a very common condition and could be a culprit (though like everyone else has said - you really should see a health care specialist). Calf Raises on the edge of a step with held weights is an excellent treatment for this. I have all but eradicated it using this method. EthanAlexander
The Adidas are ok but these are the best by far of all the soles I've tried. Spent a week shooting in NY walking on all the concrete and had what I thought were comfy shoes but I was in pain within a day. Bought these and I'm never going back. I think they're multiple different styles with the same sole which is the "react" part you want.

Parker
I was on the same hunt for some comfortable, all-day-shooting footwear last year. I was initially looking at ultraboosts as well, but decided instead on a pair of New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz, half the price and lots easier to find, their fresh foam soles are very similar to the boosts. I also added powerstepper orthotic insoles and I have literally been around the world in these shoes, fantastic. newfoundmass
