musefarm
Hello everyone, Aspiring to take my filmmaking hobby to the next level,I have decided to purchase a second hand canon eos 5d ii.However, being on a tight budget,I have limited choices as to what primes to buy along with the eos 5d body. My question is,if I had to buy only one or two primes, what would be best for a short narrative?Knowing that in my short movie there will be two types of shots : close ups with very blurred background, and panoramic shots showing landscapes where things are happening. No zoom is involved in either types of shots. Very much in need for your help. Thanks.

Administrators Andrew Reid Posted March 28, 2012 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2012 I blogged about this yesterday, did you see it? musefarm
Thanks for being the first to reply. I have read your article..you are talking about the 5d mark iii while my budget can afford only a mark ii.Moreover,so many lenses mentioned in your article to the point that I'm confused!Sorry I'm just a beginner but I have done some research online though. What I deduce from your article is that for my close up shots like dialogue scenes,I need something like the 50mm 1.8 (very much within my budget) and for my panoramic shots I need something like the 24-105 mm(comes with the 5d mark ii kit). Is that correct?
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted March 28, 2012 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2012 Same goes for 5D Mark II lenses wise as goes for III. Nikon Ai stuff a good start. You can get a 50mm F1.8 for under $100.
musefarm
Are the two lenses I have mentioned good for what I intend to do with them?
