Administrators Andrew Reid Posted April 11, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 11, 2020 Thanks for starting the new thread. How about a utility or app that converts Cinema DNG to ProRes in rec 2020 space, which you can then edit and grade in Adobe Premiere? Has this been covered yet? Has this been covered yet? https://www.fastcinemadng.com/ I'm not sure if this can do rec 2020, and its pc only. I'm happy with resolve and after effects for conversion. Chris Whitten
Very happy with Resolve so far. Final results are good and it really is no hassle to import, edit and grade the CDNG. I'm always looking for more advice, better ideas etc...
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted April 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 12, 2020 I'd like to hear more about Fast Cinema DNG and the Rec 2020 results in ProRes. I find grading LOG a lot easier than DNG. Smaller file sizes, faster editing, more fluid playback, less demanding on the system, yet pretty much identical image quality. RAW is a great recording format because nothing is sacrificed. Then you can throw the most powerful image processor you've got behind it - your PC - and come up with creamy 10bit ProRes 4444. Back when I had a Blackmagic camera, I used to shoot ProRes 9 times out of 10 rather than RAW. RAW is a great way to get LOG out of the Sigma Fp whilst it lacks it in-camera too. But ProRes is what I want to edit and grade. Denist
tweak
@Andrew Reid MLVapp works really well with Magic Lantern, perhaps you need something like that.
Devon
What does Davinci do with Adobe DNG embedded previews? They are ignored right?
