IronFilm
Quote The new 8K imaging sensor on the MAVO Edge contains 45 million pixels on a 36x24mm full-frame CMOS sensor featuring 800/3200 dual native ISO, 8K Wide up to 75fps, and latitude up to 14+ stops. Furthermore, the MAVO Edge can capture images as 100fps at 6K Wide or 160fps at 4K Wide. At the same time, MAVO Edge also supports oversampling in Full Frame mode to output 6K or 4K resolutions which will result in more details and latitude with the same optical format. https://ymcinema.com/2020/04/27/kinefinity-mavo-edge-8k-cinema-camera-announced-large-format-and-prores-raw-inside-a-carbon-fiber-body/ Quote Internal motorized FS e-ND system Kinefinity integrates the motorized FS e-ND system inside the camera for the first time. Switching between clear glass and e-ND filter is motorized and built-in as expected; the e-ND filter can cover the wide range from 2 stops to 7 stops with continuous adjustment at high precision. Niiiiice, is this the first cinema camera outside Sony with an e-ND? ntblowz
Mako Sports
Looks v nice. A more pro option over the Zcam F8
IronFilm
This is very cool! First time I've ever seen this design. You've got fully integrated BOTH BP-U Batteries and V-Lock Batteries! V-Locks for your usual shooting, with the option to super slim down your setup to use a BP-U30 for the likes of gimbal shots. All in all this is a very attractive looking camera, you've got that nice big integrated display for camera controls (although, on the operator side! Not the AC's side), and just in general more integrated into this body than before (no need for the KineBack-W now!). This is also the first Kinefinity camera to do ProResRAW Geoff CB and KnightsFan
FranciscoB
I love the movecam battery plate with two npf batteries. KnightsFan
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted April 27, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2020 It's nice to have e-ND. The rest is total overkill!

The MAVO Edge is a whole new body (in spite of keeping the "MAVO" name, indicating you'd think it shares a body with the existing MAVO/TERRA line up). Hopefully they bring this new body design to a cheaper S35 or 4/3" version.
Geoff CB
Honestly it's perfect for cinema. The battery solution on the back in ingenious and the build in ND make it incredible.

I just realized something else genius about their design: You can slide in 2x NP-F550 batteries underneath the camera (integrated in with the rails!), which means you can easily hot swap V-Lock batteries without needing to wait around for reboots! Killing wasted downtime. heart0less, Juank, chadandreo and 1 other
androidlad
With no surprise, the sensor is based on IMX309, the one used in Nikon D850 and Z7.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted April 27, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2020 Is it IMX309 in the Panasonic S1 / S1H as well? And I am asuming the 60MP one in the Z-CAM E2 F8 is also in the A7R IV. Get Canon's image processor in there immediately 😂

Oliver Daniel
Looks incredible. I think this is now the camera to challenge RED. Very future proof. Has absolutely everything besides IS. Most importantly, they’ve listened to users. Well done Kinefinity! IronFilm, Vintage Jimothy and Juank
thebrothersthre3
Blackmagic needs to put out a Full frame camera with an improved body (smaller than ursa, larger than pocket(or at least better designed). Kinefinity puts out interesting stuff though, definitely seems a bit more mature than Z-cam.
FranciscoB
This is seems one of the best purchases of the next few years. Total future proof.

Z Cam released one a month or so ago for their flagship line. It’s not built into the body, but there is a built in slot on the EF mount where it slides in similar to the Canon ND mount except, electronic. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1539456-REG/z_cam_nd101_end_module_for_z.html So now we have the first non-drone based camera with internal ProRes RAW. Makes me wonder if they had to have a separate license with Red.
BrooklynDan
Very promising camera. Love the specs, the technical design and layout. Really wish that sales and support was up to snuff. Really can't look at a pro cinema camera without a robust worldwide support network.
newfoundmass
What I love, and wish more companies would do, is the SSD slots. Especially on these bigger cameras there's no reason not to skip the SD/CFast cards and go with SSD instead.

I was wondering before if Apple somehow has a blanket license from Red and then sub-licenses to manufacturers or something.

If 8K75p is possible in this format, surely the current gen of mirrorless cameras are capable of 8K30p for a couple of minutes. Poor Sony will have to do downsampling to 8K in their R series if they decide to optimize the a7SIII for the best 4K image and fast framerates. This leaves little doubt that z7 mk II will have to do 8K and so will S1R mk II.
