Administrators Andrew Reid Posted July 9, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 9, 2020 Does anybody have a screen shot showing it? Any videos out there? Is it in the official Canon info? I can't find it. If there is a 4K/24p pixel binning mode it might solve a lot of issues. Better rolling shutter and less overheating for example. UncleBobsPhotography
I have seen it in person, so I can confirm that there is an "oversampling on/off option", but I don't remember the exact wording and I didn't check which frame rates it works with. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted July 9, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted July 9, 2020 It is important to know about this because the pixel binning 4K mode will surely be less demanding on the sensor and image processor = less heat! ntblowz
From C5D Quote Now it gets interesting – internal recording modes (with full AF performance including continuous eye and face AF tracking): 8K (8192 x 4320) video recording up to 29.97fps (non-cropped) in 12-bit RAW, or in 4:2:2 10-bit Canon Log (H.265), or 4:2:2 10-bit HDR PQ (H.265) 4K (DCI or UHD) video recording up to 119.88fps (non-cropped) in 4:2:2 10-bit Canon Log (H.265) or 4:2:2 10-bit HDR PQ (H.265) There is also a so-called 4K HQ mode available up to 30p. It internally oversamples 8K footage to 4K resolution to offer better detail than ordinary 4K mode. So there is 4K HQ mode and normal 4K mode (pixel binning?) on the R5 R6 just oversampling from 5.1K so should be alright?
UncleBobsPhotography
https://youtu.be/PvU4WNb6-J4 This video should give the answer around 15:05. They turn HQ off and 24p is still available. ntblowz

I am expecting the pixel binned 4K modes to be roughly similar to the A7R IV, but with a 10bit codec, or the Leica SL2. There will be some moire and aliasing. But might not be too bad. This is one way to get away from the hot potato 4K HQ mode
