NEX 5 hack

Hi there,

i did register to this forum, because i did read some old topic about a possible NEX 5 hack.

After a bit of research, i noticed, that the man behind "Someone1.00" went missing ? and also the site that is referred to.

I'm intereted in the tools and some help to modify the NEX 5 (not N) firmware, because i do need adjustable shutter speed in video mode.
I do know a bit about some tech things, but i'm not a programmer.

Just doing some home recording and private projects, a small hobby of mine. I'm not a camera expert. 

Still have this old NEX 5 camera, not really in a good financial situation to buy a new one. I'm on a super tight budget.
I alo do use old Minolta MD lenses with an adapter ring.


For some new projects i do need manual shutter speed for video capturing and this camera doesn't have this feature in it's software.
Is this really just a software limitation or is the hardware not capable of doing that ? i don't know.

Another help would be an used camera, usually found for around 100€ (i really can't spend more) which has an adapter for the Minolta MD mount (or just a fixed lens).
With manual shutter speed in video mode.

I also am confused to what happened to someone1 and the hack! Would love to get an update!

There's no currently active Sony or NEX hacks, so long dead I'm afraid.

And it isn't very useful. I don't think it went very far beyond the menu language hack.

There are much better areas to focus on if you're interested in camera hacks, like Magic Lantern, ML RAW and of course the GH1/GH2 with PTools. Also the Samsung NX1 with the Linux based hacks and high bitrates in H265.
