Thanks to Alex of Magic Lantern I have been testing an advanced beta (not yet public) of the new Magic Lantern Unified on the 5D Mark II.

This version takes all the features of the latest 600D / 60D version and ports them to the 5D Mark II, including HDR video and variable frame rates.

I hope this version of Magic Lantern lets you monitor audio from the AV jack like the earlier versions, why Canon never did this is beyond me.......

Hold up. HDR mode [i]does[/i] work on the 5D with the new firmware? I guess they were serious about the "unified" name - that is seriously excellent news! Now I might actually have a reason to shoot video on my 5D again :D

this is great news. The 5D has already been given an extended lease on life by
1. cinestyle, - great flat image good for post grading.
2. then the mosaic filter - fixing color moire and aliasing
now HDR!

I'd love to see this work on my 1D Mark IV as well. What's the level of effort to make that happen?

I think the Mark IV and 7D have dual DIGIC 4 so different architecture internally to the 60D, 600D, 5D Mark II and 550D. Don't think it will happen soon for those cameras buy stay tuned to the ML site and follow Alex on Twitter for news.

You have me very curious as to whether the increase in bitrate over 100, will affect the picture quality noticeably.  Look forward to seeing any 5d footage shot by you or any comments.

Can´t seem to find it anywhere. Is the Beta closed?
