Administrators Andrew Reid Posted April 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted April 11, 2012
It is a pretty disgraceful state of affairs around raw support and new camera releases at the moment and heads need banging together in my opinion. However help is at hand from Adobe who have released the pre-release version of the new Lightroom 4.1 – and it is free.Adobe Lightroom 4.1 Release Candidate (RC) can be downloaded at Adobe Labs hereRead full article
duvrai
Apple released RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 last week. I downloaded a CR2 made with a 5D3, tested it and it works fine in Preview, iPhoto and Aperture. I suppose Canon wants to make sure that new users get the best viewing experience, while still keeping the silence as long as possible.
Yes but you need iPhoto and Aperture which are paid apps. This version of Lightroom is free.

In fairness to you, if someone has purchased a Mac that is, say, more than 2 years old, they may need to pay for an upgrade to iPhoto 9.x. I say that because I have not tested the most recent RAW Compatibility Update with iPhoto '09. It might work too, but I just don't know for sure. But people with recent Macs should know they have the option of using the iPhoto installed already on their computers and can avoid the temporary LR beta download. nahua
And you failed to report the "softness" bug that plagues Canon's OWN Digital Photo Pro software? How Canon themselves have made such a terrible error on their bundled software?? Great going Canon. Thanks to Adobe for stepping up where Canon is just a massive FAIL. Of course Canon is releasing a fix, but come on? Where is the QA here? Seriously Canon is just making me mad... http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page.asp?cid=7-11676-12482
