Part of the reason I settled with the R5 after the firmware update is that it had a internal RAW 8K mode. It is essentially a specialist mode for me to be used when it makes sense. It also takes gorgeous 45MP photos and is just a bit better than the A7RIV for me. Also, all the legacy EF glass goodness and native adapters. Canon really has me with the glass. The EF lenses function perfectly with the EF-RF adapter, and I can always pick up RF glass down the line. The photos are absolutely top tier. Having said that, my 12 year old 5d mkii still takes amazing photos!

I think the best option for interviews is the external recorder, which is exactly what I need a functional and reliable HDMI port! This is my first professional camera with a micro HDMI port. Not off to a great start. Even full sized HDMI can be fragile--I can see why higher end cameras / monitors use SDI. Micro HDMI feels like I'm plugging my phone in to charge. Ammer Naber
I shoot the Canon R6 with the exact same problem. It is unusable. Just got back from Mexico shooting surfing videos. Overheats within 10 minutes! Whats worse, it is not even when I am actually shooting movies. It is in movie mode and I am just waiting to press the record button. Just focusing with servo-af on it will start the countdown timer and finally shuts off. Absolutely worthless POS. I got a total of three minutes of video out of four days of shooting. I am using the Atomos Ninja V in ProRes HQ mode extenal recording only, screen is off and flipped out to allow the back of the camer under the sensor to cool off, still same problem. Updated firmware, everything. The video quality is amazing. Wish I could use it for video, but it is literally not useable. I am so frustrated right now. The weather was hot, but I have the same experience here in Huntington Beach at 6am when it is 45 degrees out. Overheats as well but I will get around 20 minutes before it shuts down. This is while it is just focusing and not actually recording movies!!! Absolute garbage. Juank
