You could just use a 35mm... Sure, but... There is always a but ;) anamorphic does not like fast aperture... Sean Cunningham Posted February 20, 2014 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Fast for anamorphic is in the f/2 - f/2.8 range. You can go faster with certain lenses on the SLR Magic Anamorphot. How fast you can be and achieve a sharp enough image with the Anamorphot is dependent on the optical design of the taking lens and how that sauce mixes with the Anamorphot. A Speedbooster might or might not affect that relationship. For a given focal length one lens might be usable at f/1.7 while another might require f/2.8 as maximum (prior to breaking out the diopters).
