eoskoji
I am about to get myself a patched GH2 and would love to use it with a loupe. Patched FW do contain the support for peaking, right? but for which loupe should I go? any recommendations? best, Stef
Axel
Patched FW do contain the support for peaking, right?
Afaik, no. There is peaking (but not colored) in viewfinder and display already, with or without patch.
but for which loupe should I go?
The loupe magnifies the display, which has a poorer resolution than the viewfinder. On "Musgo" they probably used a loupe. I made a screenshot of the making of to find out: To me it doesn't look comfortable. My recommendation is to buy an ancient Super 8 camera on ebay with a big rubber eyepiece (most old Nizos have the right size). Here you can see it on my DIY shoulder mount: Of course you need to adjust the height of the camera very exactly (I use the shoulder pad to rise and lower the camera), but you also need to with a loupe. If you don't want to rip a Super 8 camera, you can also buy a rubber part that you use to waterproof your bathroom sink (excuse my terribly awkward english), on which you have to cut out the viewfinder-form on the backside: (grip not recommended, search for "pistol grip") EDIT: I also tried an external monitor via HDMI. Works well, the output is clean and HD. But you forgo the advantages of a compact setup. And then you can neither film in 720p (becomes 1080i automatically once HDMI is connected) nor with EX-Tele.
