jurgen
Thanks Andrew! Glad to get the official word. May shipment will also give me time to save :D -edit- Also hoping this drives the price down a little on the GH3 - $849? Dad wants a camera, would love to get him one! nazdar
According to HDwarrior ... "I can exclusively reveal that without a card in the camera you can take the camera’s HDMI output into an external recorder giving you 10bit 422" True / not true? HD + 4K or only HD? Administrators Andrew Reid Posted March 9, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted March 9, 2014 As I put in my articles, yes you can take 10bit 4:2:2 over the HDMI output. It's HD only. All the info is here if you wanna read... http://www.eoshd.com/content/tag/panasonic-gh4 nazdar

Guest
Do you think £1200 GBP body only is optimistic? ($1700 + 20% UK VAT)
Ben Prater
So for $3300, we get a camera + base that is comparable to a C100. At around half the price. Plus we get 4k. Not too shabby.
fuzzynormal
Good deal. I'll hold off purchasing a few of these 'til my big doc project 3rdQ this year. Should be readily available at that late date, perhaps even some other players in the 4K market by then? Man, if Olympus had 4K and that 5-axis? (no chance, but I can wish)
nazdar
You will see at NAB. Maybe they will show Sony 4K alfa.
cantsin
As I put in my articles, yes you can take 10bit 4:2:2 over the HDMI output. It's HD only. How is that possible? AFAIK, HDMI is only specified for transferring an 8bit video signal at 1080p and the other two bits of the interface are reserved for control information?!? swester
So for $3300, we get a camera + base that is comparable to a C100. At around half the price. Plus we get 4k. Not too shabby. To be fair, the C100 is now $4999. And I wouldn't be surprised if by NAB Canon drops the price again, perhaps to $4599-4699. But yeah, still neat that the GH4 is still priced well below (and gives 4K).
Musty
All that remains is someone to put out some well shot, edited and graded footage. Some of the footage some testers have put out is absolute junk. Andrew, will you or have you already in your hands on a GH4? I'm thinking about jumping off the Canon ship as is seems to not have much direction. HDMI 1.3: Deep Color: HDMI 1.3 supports 10-bit, 12-bit and 16-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 8-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification, for stunning rendering of over one billion colors in unprecedented detail. MysticPictures
The big question is how much are the cards going to cost us??? Nice to have a cheap Ferrari, but does you no good if you can't afford the oil changes.
