I have never before seen a mint condition one like this. Described as Mini , so might have escaped some searches. I know some members are looking for one, so here it is

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/MINI-ANAMORPHIC-LENS-CINEMASCOPE-LENS-ARRI-AATON-/121305565402?pt=FR_IQ_PhotoVideo_Photo_Objectifs_Zooms&hash=item1c3e6008da

The other day there was a listing for 2 of these in mint condition for 1000euros (could have been $) for the pair & they dissappeared very quickly!

He's the same seller who 4-5 days ago sold the pair of them you mentioned above. That pair started at the price of €1000 and only 2 bids made within the last 3 seconds. Finally went for €1515...

I was the first bidder (of the total 2) with a bid of €1505. I search the guy who made his bid 1 second after me (and 1 before the end of the auction) and finally took them. It's unfair that he has 2... :)

The strange thing is that this seller had 3 pieces... And all in immaculate condition. Is it true that finally only 25 pieces made?

made up histories

made up

it was a joke mr cine :)

my histories have plenty of trutheness in dem.

but anyway back to the little lens

50 optics made and sold by the wide screen centre in london in the early 1980s from old 1950s benoist berthiot stock.

just because one optic appears on ebay does not mean it is a new just discovered  never before seen copy.

i have a baby hypergonar it has been sold 3 times on ebay in the last 15 months not 3 new lens but one sold by 3 different people.

3 or 4 guys passing these around maybe this french guy has new old stock maybe his dad worked in the factory and nicked some maybe he found a box of them in henri chretiens loft in the south of france.

my guess is he got um cheap local or on the internet and is flipping them for a profit.

but maybe you know best cineman as your name suggests your a 8mm and super 8 specialist

No offense intended Tony.   Simply bringing attention to your recent post.   What I have noticed is that since I started looking for mine (and bought it) about a year ago, I started seeing them popping up with some frequency and without enough of a price increase to indicate flipping.  They weren't always easy to spot but they're out there.  I just don't think that anything found in such small quantities is appearing that regularly on eBay...especially knowing that some of the members here own and are holding them.  It would be interesting to have a better idea though.  Let's take a poll.  Out of curiosity...how many of you currently own a baby Hypergonar / Berthiot Cinemascope 8mm?  Put me down for 1.
