The times I use the GoPro for anything I nearly always want to slow the footage down later so I've been wishing my HERO 8 would do 4K120FPS. Emanuel
A couple of them coming... I am not sure if you yet realize THIS is the best capture device ever (4K 120fps) for 3D acquisition in 2021, considering the size and price I invite everyone to test and you will all remember these words from now on ;- ) We'll be testing this weekend 2x Insta360 Go2 on a Mini 2 because of its 26.5g 0.935oz x2 capability, here's an interesting test from another shooter up to 10oz to certify also handling the weight for Go Pro mounted there, be ready for: EAG :- )
androidlad
With the resolution/framerate and amount of motion involved with those devices, they are in need of a codec/bitrate overhaul, or you always end up with heavily compressed blotchy mess that can't hold up in post. newfoundmass, kye and Emanuel
Emanuel
My bet is David Newman, the man beyond Danny Boyle's choice on digital over film (EAG :- )

It would not be hard to convince me that the 10 would beat it.

Jay60p
So, is there a way to run two GoPro7's in sync, as in the earlier GoPro 3D Dual HERO System for the Hero3 camera? I scanned the GoPro7 pdf manual and didn't find anything about this. Or do you let them run wild at 60p, and sync up manually later as close as possible? It's not possible to get the GoPro7 frame-locked like the earlier GoPro. With 60fps i didn't really have any problems with time difference between the cameras, but I have mostly used it for next to static shots. Yeah, the resolutions, frame rates and stuff are nice but I'm just never happy with how the footage looks coming out of GoPros. I keep expecting them to come out with something that really makes you take notice but I really don't know why anyone would have purchased these last few unless they really needed to replace an old or non working one. Even then, I think the DJI Osmo Action is a much better buy and I prefer the image.

A nightmare to deal with the incompatibility of wireless coupled to 2x Go2 apparentely solved a few hours later (I hope!*) to succeed the necessary learning curve led us there. *Lesson #1: Deselect the auto mode (forget it!) on wireless and set up your connection manually (very simple: just add the password supplied by default); *Lesson #2: Deselect the View App on Insta360 app coming from camera mode back to album mode (no need to leave the app) or sooner or later you'll be in trouble and it's not a faulty unit in hands ;- )
leslie
4k 120fps sounds good and a new processor should help things along. It will be interesting to see how it develops. Personally i'm probably spoiled by having the p4k, however all my searching seems to indicate that the 9 is still 8 bit. Perhaps i'm wrong feel free to correct me if thats true. If the 10 isn't 10 bit or higher with some type of "braw" or log file, then i feel like i'm being cheated, it is 2021 after all. I know i can use protunes and turn the sharpness down, and shoot flat, but that's still not any "real" type of log file. Pretty sure my drone has d log at least and that's a year or two old. I presume that gopro are targeting a market. the ones that want to press a button and record something and for that, it does a fairly good job. Myself i'd like to see the gopro grow a little, have a few more professional options. If the 10 had to grow a little bit to allow 10 bit and or log i'd be happy with that. Unless they say 10-bit in the marketing, you're not getting it. I suspect they're aiming at a different market, and sadly, there are people out there who need to be protected from getting out of their depth. ie, I think that if GoPro released a camera with a "Pro" mode that was 10-bit, log, and unsharpened, then a large proportion of people who buy it would set it to that mode without knowing what it was, would use it, get flat soft-looking footage out of it, and would trash-talk GoPro themselves, to the extent that vast sections of their market would think that GoPro themselves had made faulty cameras. It is a pity though, as once a company is making their own custom chips they could design them to include any combination of processing / codec / bitrates etc so devices like the GoPro, iPhone, etc could be built to offer very interesting modes. leslie
its a great little action camera, however i can see gopro backing themselves into a corner with nowhere left to go at some point. As nice as the hypersmooth is, how many more iterations do we need? The 10 will have hypersmooth 4. I am probably the one in a hundred that uses a gopro, in some respects, the opposite way for what its intended. I think it depands on how gopro handles it. They could could easily implement it with a software switch and have the gopro operate normally with the default settings people are used to. It would require some youtube vids and some media releases to educate the masses to the added functionality. It would also allow the reviewer/ influencers a chance to earn their money for a change as well. 🙄 Still i think the gate is open, the horse will bolt and gopro will miss an opportunity. Maybe we'll all be surprised, who knows what sort of beast we will end up with. But i'm not holding my breath.
