christianhubbard
http://www.hurlbutvisuals.com/blog/2012/04/looking-inside-the-canon1dc-dslr-4k-capture-project-the-ticket/ 1:17 of the first video you can clearly see they are using a 1DX NOT a 1D-C. In every other shot of the video, the "X" is covered with black gaff tape. Why? probably because it's the same exact camera with different firmware, in my opinion. Also, take into note how Canon has uploaded this video to their private vimeo page, only allowing it to embed on shane's blog. Why not let Shane upload it himself like he always does? What do you guys think?
jindrich
Yes, the camera white labelled "model C nº22" has a 1D-X logo rathen than 1D-C and it's used all over the place in the BTS. This could mean nothing, like it was just a chassis prototype, or indeed, that they're both the same camera (other than the ethernet/phones plug). Neither is yet available, but I guess a way to find out would be to load a 1D-C firmware into a 1D-X and see what happens. It wouldn't be the first time Canon puts the same components and changes just firmware, but in this case, given the price difference it would be too sick for such a think to be real. Sara
You are 100% correct. Can't blame Canon for recycling parts - the sensor is what counts, but the problem is that Canon is falling behind in their sensor tech to other companies. So Canon is using people like Shane Hurlbutt to pitch their products in a childish way - claiming "it can deliver an image that crushes the F65, Epic, Alexa in one fell swoop." http://www.hurlbutvisuals.com/blog/2012/04/the-next-gen-in-digital-film-capture-canons-4k-1dc/ When you have to resort to over the top bullshit brand bashing like that - you know you have lost the battle. christianhubbard
so obviously they are recycling the body, do you think all of the internals are the same as well? Is a 1D-C just an un-hindered 1D-X with an ethernet port?
HurtinMinorKey
To be fair, I think they do add a heat conductor into the processor housing. But that sure is one expsensive heat pipe. Honestly, I bet the delay with the 1dX has more to do with making it hack-proof, than anything else.
