MrSMW
Just because you can... ...doesn't mean you should. I have an argument (with and for myself) for a 100mp stills camera (Fuji GFX 100s) but that is an absolute upper limit and only because that specific camera has desirable features that the GFX 50sii is lacking, mainly PDAF. I did notice a quantifiable and welcome jump in resolution moving from 24mp FF sensor to 47mp FF sensor which I did not notice so much between Fuji's APSC 26mp and Panny's FF 24mp. There was/is a difference in the latter, but it's tiny and arguably the Fuji has marginally better colour, but 200mp or larger sensors just leave me cold. There will be applications where it will be useful, but for my kind of work (social), nah.
Emanuel
Of course, there are human limits too where nothing is added no matter how high it is : ) Without mention, sometimes, less is more ; ) Even though, there are some further applications and use where open gates never explored before play a much interesting and distinct role. As everything in life, it's all about balance and requirements for this or that specific job :- )
kye
Well, one thing is for sure - the eye is absolutely not 576Mp!
Emanuel
Indeed and that's how overrated this can be... : ) Even though, except for certain applications where this race can bring anything new to the human race : D well, jokes aside, obviously conditioned to our own physiology :- ) No idea if that already has happened with you but I've already seen myself to use the smartphone's high-resolution camera to see what my eyes can't reach... since my 2012 Nokia 808 PureView at least (still in office even today*): * with both ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro

Emanuel
LOL Not all! Those to offer high-resolution acquisition! ; ) hahaha Jokes aside : D I love the potentiality of those machines where the best camera is the one able to fit your pocket! : ) Oh well, and the challenge behind to extract a decent outcome from there ;- )
