jonpais
Here's a screen grab from a shoot I did this afternoon. Settings: 24p, MOV, Natural, -4, -4, -3, -5. Is this normal, or does my lens suffer from too much flare? It was shot somewhere between f/2.8 and f/4. If necessary, I can upload the actual video file. Thanks in advance! https://copy.com/PCfBtM4kn73B
Inazuma
Yes, when I had the lens I found it flared a lot (which I personally didn't mind). The Olympus 17mm f1.8 flares a bit too. By comparison the kit lens on the a6000 doesn't flare at all.
fuzzynormal
Hard to see what the subjects are doing through that overwhelming lens flare. What is it exactly? Looks like two Dolphins and a CHP police officer trying to wrestle a giraffe in flip flops. Am I right? jonpais
@Ivan @Andy I've been obsessing over what seems to be veiling flare whenever I shoot with the 12-35mm. The 35-100mm images don't seem to suffer from this, but of course, I usually crop so tight with it that there isn't any strong backlighting to deal with. I guess I've been worrying about nothing. andy lee
the wider your lens the more prone to flare your lens is , that's just physics ......so what I do is always shoot with a metal lens hood on all my lenses you can buy these cheap on ebay and my entire collection is fitted with them - yes one for every lens!! just get the right diameter for your lens front http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-wide-angle-49mm-metal-lens-hood-cover-for-49mm-filter-lens-/221414500337?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item338d5527f1
