andy lee
on a more serious note ...if you like the Pancolar its partner in crime is the Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.4 Flektogon - they work together very well

Henry Gentles
Yes I have the 35mm 2.4 and I agree, it's probably the best Lens I have. I'm now looking for an 85mm, maybe a Biometar 80mm? Can't decide whether to get a Samyang/Rokinon CINE 85/1.4 or get the Biometar, I think the newer 85's are much better but cost alot more. I got a Yashica ML 35 -70mm 3.5f, paid $80 with a 35mm Yashica Film Camera, but the Lens is all Plastic!! I was ripped off I think! It works ok, seems to be very sharp but the focus throw is coarse compared to metal lens. Here's a 35mm 2.4f Flektagon photo I took. andy lee
I would go with a 80mm Biometar - superb lens
Henry Gentles
Ok scored a Biometar but not sure what the mount is? Can anyone tell me? the link is here, sorry but Ebay won't allow me to save the images for some reason? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Jena-Lens-DDR-MG-Biometar-2-8-80-NO-10078440-/161310099092?ViewItem=&item=161310099092&nma=true&si=sK88ctmpZvtKkBPpaQc0SFG8%252BLg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Ok, don't worry, another friend told me it is pentacon 6. Henry Gentles
Hey Andy check this out, shows you great comparison between the Zeiss lens in terms of contrast and sharpness at different stops! http://www.rickdenney.com/mother_lens_test.htm

macnerd
how do you know when a lens is a knock off version?
andy lee
Ive never seen any FAKE Carl Zeiss Lenses! But the Russians KMZ have copied some Zeiss designs - buy they do not try to pass them off as Zeiss lenses
macnerd
i've been looking at some pentax cosmicar 25mm lens and i've noticed that they dont look the same even though its the same product, like the numbers are different, some are longer than some and they are made by different companies.. I've noticed the same thing with fujinon lens also.. I don't want to end up buying another replica/knock off again
andy lee
They make different lenses for different size cctv sensors , you want the 1" sensor models not the ones made for smaller 2/3 " and 1/3 " sensors as they vignette too much. - They are not knock off lenses they are different models that is why they have different model numbers. there is an older pentax cosmicar 25mm f1.9 with zebra markings and the newer pentax cosmicar 25mm f1.4 - smaller a better lens there are 3 versions of this - original made in Japan , then a made in china version and the latest is made in Vietnam optically they are all the same - I have all 3 there is no differeance all Fujinon lenses I own are made in Japan - I dont have any not made in Japan do not confuse Fujian brand with Fujinon Fujian is a Chinese CCTV lens maker - their lenses are no way as good as Fujinon of Japan. macnerd

macnerd
Anyone has any experience with this lens.. "Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G" is it good or bad?
andy lee
Nikon AF-S 28-70mm f2.8 IF ED is one of the best lenses I have , it is the 'Bourne' Lens - used on Bourne Ultimatum , Captain Phillips and James Bond Casino Royale . On a micro 4/3 camera with a speed booster/ lens turbo it is superb! it becomes approx a 20-50 f2 BOKEH MONSTER ! with a super 35mm field of view from the Speedbooster. very very filmic - it doesnt get much better than this!! Michael Thames
Just bought a Canon 70 -200 f4 IS USM today, I can believe how gooooood it is! Henry Gentles
noone
Just curious if anyone has tried the Fotodiox Light Cannon? Was originally sold as a speed booster/focal reducer but it seems not the best image quality so now is sold as soft focus. At around $50 might be worth trying. Also, anyone used an m43 focal reducer/speed booster on an E mount camera? If it works ok with a cheap m43 to NEX adapter it would save the cost of two of them.
