etidona
Hey gh4 owners, does it happens to you? Hey users, have you had weird lockups recording cine 4K? Please see and comment should I ask for replacement?— Mikko Henrik Huotari (@miggohoo) It happened to me too, fortunately not often, about once a day. PanasonicUSA is not responding about the issue. varicam
Happened to me once. Had to take out battery. Turning the camera to off couldn't turn it off. Very annoying. etidona
andy lee
The Panasonic G6 also crashes alot needing a battery pull , especially when reviewing files if you shuttle through the images in playback mode it cannot handle the data and crashes . jgharding
What would you say the frequency of the problem is? not in Hz, more like how often does it lock up?
jonpais
This has happened to me half a dozen times with the GM1. I recently replaced the SD card, don't know yet whether that's the solution. It's a bitch, because it's intermittent, if I send to Panasonic in Hong Kong or Singapore, you can bet they won't find anything wrong with it. etidona
Looks like it happens also with the Sandisk uhs-II cards. Not in playback but in rec mode 4k/UHD Never happened with my GM1
J.P
yeah, this happens every now and then: I start recording, then trying to stop recording but it just freezes. Have to do a battery pull. Happened in 96fps and 4k mode, haven't tried others. Can't really see a pattern...
varicam
It's happened to me once so far. But I haven't owned the GH4 for that long. I shoot mostly 4k.
Guest Ebrahim Saadawi
Yup happened to me four-five times. But also notable, it happened with me quite a lot with Canon DSLRs also, especially the ones that came out after the 5d mk II/7D/t2i generation (mk III & 6D & 70d & t4i/t5i) -The thing is these camera turn on almost instantanously so it doesn't bother me much even on paid shoots. It takes a couple of seconds to turn on again. And it never happens whilst recording or lose footage (for me) so I am fine with it
Michael Thames
Never experienced that problem on my 5D iii.
etidona
the gh series should not suffer from overheating. maybe a buffering issue?
jgharding
Hmm does seem like a noted issue. I don't think it'd hurt me too much, but it's nice to know about such issues
elkanah77
Happens alot shooting pictures burst mode for me. have the Sandisk 64gb 95MB/s U1. Not with lower spec'd 45MBs strangelu enough. Not experienced hang ups shooting 4K video at all. Use the 45MB card for 4K as well, no problems.

jgharding
Yes indeed, I did think that, but I would never pick it for events or reportage, so I neglected to mention. I'd go with a 1080p camcorder like C100 or FS100 at least, just because they do it all without workarounds! For the kind of stuff I'd use it for, more narrative and promo, I can't imagine it's a huge problem, but still quite a bummer. It doesn't inspire confidence... etidona
etidona
Yep one thing is choosing the tool for the job another thing is feeling unsafe because something can crash. That makes the whole "hybrid" definition for this camera a nonsense for me.
jonpais
Yep one thing is choosing the tool for the job another thing is feeling unsafe because something can crash. That makes the whole "hybrid" definition for this camera a nonsense for me. What in the world does hybrid have to do with this topic? Crashes aren't something unique to hybrid cameras... At least my lowly GM1 has good company - the $7,000 Leica M Typ 240 ;)
etidona
jon I'm talking about video mode: a Gm1 can crash, a G6 can crash and a 5D can crash because they are not "hybrid"; they have video but as a bonus. hybrid means "equally capable of both stills and video". davidp158
My GH4 crashes after shooting a time lapse and choosing the option to save the files to a movie. Happens every time, regardless of image file type or resolution. I sent an email request to Panasonic and waiting for an answer.
rndmtsk
I've definitely experienced this with 5DIII and it sucks, but the files are never corrupt. Are people experiencing corrupted files from this? Also, is anyone experiencing this with the recommended U3 cards?
