Alternative to Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

Hello,

I need a wide lens for my canon 550D (yes, still using this crap :( ) and considering the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, problem is: it costs too much. Since I will be using this lens mainly for landscapes and daily wide shots on a stabilizer (always f/8 and above) I see no reason why I can't get a cheaper lens with smaller aperture.

Do you have something to suggest? I don't think edge to edge sharpness is that important for video. I would also prefer the front not to rotate while focusing or changing focal length since I always use a CPL filter.

Is this right for you?

TBH I think the Tokina price is very good, worth the extra.

This is even wider, but still not cheap. Actually it's quite a bit more expensive.

The Tokina is a bit of a modern classic.

I used to use the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 when I shot on APS-C cameras, it's a really nice lens.

You'll probably be able to find it used for around ~250 euro.

When it comes to cheap wide APS-C zooms, I don't think you'll find other lenses with similar quality for that price (possibly a close one in price/quality ratio being the one Ebrahim mentioned, but it's a bit more expensive).

The canon 10-18 is perfect for you. It's not bad at all, definitely not at f/8. It's dirt cheap, tiny, light weight and it has IS!

Difference between 10 and 12mm is noticeable. It's 20% after all.

Little test video I shot with it. Just a few quick shots, so not great (had a hard time focusing on the 1200D - the dof is big so everything looks in focus on the screen, but it's hard to see where the critical focus really is)

Edited image (10mm f/6.3 I think), shot with Canon 1200D (raw):
