GH4 still - Is this normal artifacting?

You cropped a portion of the image, pushed it by two stops, maxed sharpness, and don't expect to get artefacts like this?

I would say it's normal, unless they appear in normal shooting conditions. Do they?

Never seen such a line when pushing it on Nikon cameras - just more random noise. So, this is very dependent on sensor/processing tech.

 

Anyway, for stills, I doubt it will be an issue. There are serious banding issues on some cameras, I wouldn't say this looks too serious. Even in a large print, I doubt you'll notice it, and for screen use when you resample down, it won't be much noticeable. Easily fixed in Photoshop if needed.

Not to my eye, no. I've tried to provoke it a bunch of times and can't seem to recreate the issue. The first time I saw it, I was trying to save an actual photo shot at ISO 4000 by pushing it a bit. I've since gone back and looked through all my other high ISO photos and it isn't there (and isn't provokable).
