Julian
Shame, 4K only at 30 fps... no 25/24? :( Maybe PAL model with 25 fps? Edit: Yep, EU model shoots 25 fps: http://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/cameras-camcorders/lumix-digital-cameras---point-and-shoot/bridge-cameras/dmc-fz1000eb.specs.html Apart from that, amazing specs... varicam
Why does the video say it is the world's first in 4K video recording? And OIS except in 4K video? That is a bit disappointing. MarioVGreen

According to DP Review, it does 24 fps in 1080p mode only, 4K is 30. Seems a bit mean of Panasonic.... http://***URL removed***/articles/4245510255/panasonic-fz1000-not-just-another-superzoom

varicam
The question is| between LX8 and this, which one should I get as a B-Cam to the GH4. Tough decision.

hoodlum
It looks like the LX8 will be using a different sensor than the FZ1000. http://www.43rumors.com/ft5-panasonic-lx8-comes-with-same-1-inch-sensor-as-the-fz1000-specs-roundup/
Julian
That'd be weird... Wonder what will be different.
hoodlum
Previous LX models had mult-aspect sensors. The LX8 has a built-in ND filter where the FZ1000 does not. Maybe Panasonic will add move enhancements for video.
Jacek
It looks like the LX8 will be using a different sensor than the FZ1000. http://www.43rumors.com/ft5-panasonic-lx8-comes-with-same-1-inch-sensor-as-the-fz1000-specs-roundup/ It is a good news. Maybe a sensor better optimized for 4K. FZ1000 is using small center crop for 4K (effectively making a sensor smaller and a lens narrower for 4K). pablogrollan
Pure GH4 video quality. Sony is in pain :) OH my GOD it has cinelike profile Panasonic has unleashed a great deal of If this specs come in LX8 the RX100M3 remain unsold or preorder cancelled or returned Nothing to say. Beautiful winning thrust panasonic I think it's a bad day today for the sony :D and the honest price crushes all the competition to the ground Really? The FZ1000's sensor is made by Sony. It is supposed to be the same sensor in the RX10, which Sony could "update" at any moment (Photokina?). In fact, 4K and a slightly lower price tag are the main differences between these cameras: In return, you lose the constant aperture Zeiss zoom and the clickless aperture ring. Of every FZ1000 sold by Panny, Sony will get a share, and later they will probably release a marginally better RX10 II for a few hundred dollars more and that too will sell OK. Business-wise, I believe they are doing fine since right now they are the ones developing the most advanced sensors for their cameras, the Hasselblads, the Alexas, the Nikons and the Pannys. The only real competitor in this arena is Canon, but we all know it's been a while since they released an innovative sensor...
jgharding
Though of course rumours of a new Canon sensor are likely true. If I were Canon, I'd go dual channel Alexa style, for both stills and video. That'd be something else.
hoodlum
LX8 has less room for heat dissipation and going to 12mp may help with this.
