shorthairs
When editing 4K for 1080 output in FCPX should the timeline be 4K or 1080? It would seem to me that to take full advantages of 4K, i.e. pan/zoom etc. that one should use a 4K timeline and convert to 1080 on export via Compressor? I am new to 4K and would be interested in any articles written about the nuances of working with it. Thanks Kent
jonpais
I found it a bit confusing myself, but here are some answers to a similar question posted in the forums: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> I googled to see if there was any other useful workflow advice, but I didn't come up with much. Here is one: http://www.eduardoangel.com/2014/02/13/7-things-we-discovered-after-shooting-4k-with-the-gh4/ I'm in the same boat, as I'll be picking up my GH4 next Thursday. Perplex
timeline should be 1080. just drop in your 4k footage, and it will be automatically downsized crop as necessary. this guy talks about it here

jonpais
This guy also recommends just dropping the 4K file into the 1080p timeline. This guy = Dave Dugdale /edit/ at around 6:00" (sorry, I'm still in the middle of watching the tutorial), Dave addresses accusations that he is being paid by Panasonic.
