SamStJohn
Hi I have a GH2 which im going to hack and put driftwood 176 onto. i do not wish to shoot any narrative based work in 16:9 again. I feel compelled to shoot cinemascope, My last short film was shot on a PD150 with cinemascope 2:35:1, 223 I know that sounds crazy but it sort of worked. i measured out the cinemascope conversion and attached scotch tape to act as a grid. old school. do any of the available hacks allow for the screen to be marked out? or am i back to my calculator? also, at the moment i just have the kit lens, i cannot see me buying anamorphic lens' anytime soon, unless i can get them dirt cheap. so how will shooting on a standard lens like that effect the anamorphic look? thank you in advance for your replies Sam St. John Paragon Pictures www.paragonpictures.co.uk
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted January 3, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 3, 2012 If you are using a 2x anamorphic check out the EOSHD GH2 Patch Vault, each patch includes the MJPEG anamorphic patch for 2.66:1 direct out of the camera from 4:3 with a 2x lens. With a 1.33x or 1.5x lens you will be best off in AVCHD 1080p mode with the usual high bitrate hack. For monitoring, image is stretched on camera no matter what mode... I sometimes use an external monitor or EVF which does the stretch in real time while recording, sometimes don't bother.
