Very smart. It's the same concept as Instagram hyperlapse indeed. It shouldn't be expensive at all, the hardware is really cheap. The only downside over a gimbal is framing of course. You're going to have to shoot a bit wider than intended and crop afterwards. For 4K to 1080p this could be really cool.

I'm not interested in the current stabilizers because of the price (and the bulk) But this little box could be a really cool addition for handheld action shots. I wonder how it will work in more 'normal' shots, like a substitute for in lens IS. Love the small for factor. Very stealthy!

Some more info about it and also a comparison video. It doesn't crop because it computes new pixels based on the surrounding frames. The results are incredible! You want to say they are cheating, like they have a MoVi and are artificially making the footage shaky in the "before" footage. But I don't think it's possible to mount a movi in front of a cyclist like that. Still, I hope we get to see more examples soon from better cameras. The quality from their test footage has been pretty poor so far!
