SLR Magic APO HyperPrime CINE 50mm T2.1

Hong Kong, China (September 12, 2014). SLR Magic will present a new CINE lens to the public from the APO-HyperPrime lens family in the upcoming Photokina 2014 fair in Cologne at the SLR Magic booth (Hall 5.1, L-011). The SLR Magic APO-HyperPrime CINE 50mm T2.1 is the first lens of the family. It achieves outstanding images under challenging lighting conditions. When taking pictures with many image-dominant, open light sources, it is common for correction defects to show up. Because the SLR Magic APO-HyperPrime CINE 50mm T2.1 is an apochromatic (APO) lens, longitudinal chromatic aberrations are corrected by its unique optical design and special selection of optical elements. The color defects are therefore significantly lower than the defined limits. Bright/dark transitions in the image, and especially highlights, are rendered with no colorful artifacts.

sounds very good , I would like to try this against the Zeiss Otus 55 f1.4 which is a no compromise lens that also boasts perfect optical correction eliminates nearly all optical flaws from colour fringes and distortion to chromatic abberrations ....but at a heavy cost £££$$$

This new design SLR sounds very interesting....

BTW Zeiss have just announced the 85mm f1.4 Otus

Matthew Duclos reviews it here

also Rokinon (samyang) have announced a new 50mm and a September 2014 ship date.

this is the one lens that was missing from their range

Rokinon already has  8mm, 14mm, 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, and an 85mm.

the 50mm has an aperture of T1.5 and a stunning price of $549 for a cine prime!! this is very good

Considering the dropping price in 35mm cameras and how most are PL mount, I would love to gather the board thoughts on if this lens, paired also with the 2x analophot, would hold well. SLR prices are typically in-check and the idea of owning instead of renting PL glass leaves me wondering. Seem like a sensible idea?
