GH4 flash firing with cover on!

The internal flash on my GH4 sometimes fires with the cover down when it is not set to fire at all. It creates a small explosion with a smell of scorching. Very alarming! Any idea what's going on? Anyone else had this problem. i've only had the camera a few months and have never used the flash, as I primarily shoot video.

I would talk the the place you bought it from and consider returning it before anything bad goes wrong ......

Same problem here! My GH4 is new (50 phothos only).

I see on Google many users in the same situation.

I had the same problem with a Canon some years ago... and I had to send it to the assistance.... :(

Has anyone else had this flash firing when closed issue and had it resolved?  My camera is doing this too and it seems to be happening in Program mode. Now the flash lens is a rather yellowish color and I have the smelling black powder substance in the flash compartment. It seems this is a firmware issue/malfunction, but now I don't know if my camera needs to be serviced which can be a total headache.  Any further info on this would be appreciated. Sounds like this is a well defined issue with the GH4.
