richg101
Hey guys. I'm a 'consumer', rather than a 'professional' so am not very familiar with what is available in terms of lossless adaptors that will give me SDi outputs from a HDMI source. My main requirement is that the adaptor also provides a hdmi passthrough to feed an hdmi monitor. While also providing 1 or 2 sdi outputs to feed sdi recorders So I want HDMI input. And both SDI and HDMI outputs. cheers!
Tim Naylor
Check out Atomos
jax_rox
Odyssey 7Q can do passthrough as well as SDI-HDMI and HDMI-SDI conversion. It can also act as your recorder. However, it depends what you're trying to record. In its current state, the 7Q cannot record higher than 1080p30 via HDMI.
Guest Ebrahim Saadawi
I don't think there's one that provides an HDMI output again, at least Atomos, Blackmagic and AJA converters don't. They all have a single HDMI input and an SDI output straight. So I think the solution (other than an Odyssey 7Q or a Shogun!) is that you can use any HDMI splitter, it splits the HDMI signal from the camrra to two HDMI outputs. Then take one to the SDI converter and one to the HDMI monitor. No experience with HDMI splitters but that's supposed to work,
thebryceman
Try the Datavideo DAC-70. It does all sorts of cross conversion in, out and through.
Guest Ebrahim Saadawi
I never heard of Datavideo nice find. It has an HDMI input, and SDI/HDMI outputs that work simultanously at up to 1080p 60p 10bit (no 4K). But it's 500$ and powered by a DC cable input, and the battery solution is extra/optional adapter and quite bulky.
