Llaasseerr
Thanks for posting this! Do you know what the difference is between the IMX410AQL in the a7III and the IMX410DQL in the FX9? I’m actually interested from the perspective of the Sigma fp which I assume uses the AQL.
Malick
what about Venice sensors? do you have any info on those? Davide DB
Davide DB
Does Sony A1 (IMX610AQL) use same senor of Venice?
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted September 28, 2023 Administrators Share Posted September 28, 2023 Do you know what the logic is behind the A7 IV bucking the IMX naming convention with "IS"?

They have apparently used the A1 sensor in the BURRITO. Davide DB

Sorry I meant Venice II 29 minutes ago, j_one said: I've been trying to find a source for this literally anywhere. Is it mostly hearsay? Marketing touts brand new sensor. From: https://www.xdcam-user.com/2021/11/sony-launches-venice-ii/ Quote There has been a lot of speculation that the sensor used in Venice II is the same as the sensor in the Sony A1 mirrorless camera, after all the pixel count is exactly the same. We already know that the A1 sensor is a very nice and very capable sensor. So IF it were to be the same sensor but paired with significantly more and better processing power and an appropriate feature set for digital cinema production it would not be anything to complain about. But it is unlikely that it is the very same sensor. It might be based on the A1 sensor (and the original Venice sensor is widely speculated to be based on the A9 sensor) but one thing you don’t want on these sensors are the phase detection sites used for autofocus. j_one
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted September 28, 2023 Administrators Share Posted September 28, 2023 Venice II has a similar sensor but apparently not the same, as it lacks phase-detect AF pixels, and has less rolling shutter than the a1. It might be a very similar sensor just without PDAF and clocked higher for a faster readout. Davide DB
