Brian Luce
I'm sure this is a user error, but today I was doing an interview. my nx1 would only record 7:57 of video before going back to stand by mode. 7:57 is what's showing up in the VF as available time, even though the card has lots of storage left. Tried different cards, always shows 7:57. In UHD 30p mode it goes to 7:08 available recording time. What am I doing wrong? This cannot be right. neosushi
Did you try reseting to factory defaults ?
Brian Luce
Did you try reseting to factory defaults ?Resetting to factory default will set the available space count back to 29:59; however default sets video to 1080 at 60p. If you go to full 4k 24p, the counter will again change to 7:57. might be my unit or another bug.
Wulf
how big is the file?
neosushi
Im thinking a unit bug :/
ESGI Media
Did you format the card in the camera? Stab in the dark but my first thought it the format of the card. FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit. 80Mbps @ 7 min gives you something close to 4GB.
DigitalEd
Mine says 29,59 for time
Brian Luce
Reformatting the card doesn't help. I'm thinking my camera isn't spanning the files and reaching, as someone said above, the 4 gig limit.
ESGI Media
Is it an SD, SDHC or SDXC card?
Brian Luce
Is it an SD, SDHC or SDXC card?it's a sandisk extreme pro 32gb; 95MB/sec; SDHC I; class 10. I've tried other cards and it doesn't change anything.
Steve M.
Switch to a 64GB card, and my bet that will change things. Why do I think that? I haven't a clue, but it sounds good!
arellaTV
I found this from Imaging Resource's NX1 Review:Maximum clip length is limited to 29 minutes 59 seconds while maximum file size depends on the SD card's capacity and file system. For 32GB and lower capacity SDHC and SD cards, the card is formatted as FAT32 with a file size limit of 4GB. Larger SDXC cards are formatted as exFAT, with movie files sizes limited by the 29:59 time limit.
Steve M.
Maybe it sounds better than I thought!

Brian Luce
format your 32 gig card on your computer as exFAT It worked! Now I'm in the 29 minute record time club! Thanks!btw, for anyone else, it's easy to format exFAT, just insert the sd card in computer, click my computer, right click the SD card and select format. check exFAT and click START in the dialog box. ESGI Media
Glad that's cleared up, thought that was the problem.
Brian Luce
Interesting that if I format an SD card in camera it reverts back the the 4 gig file limit. I had to reformat in my desktop to get exFAT to get the full 29 min recording limit.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted January 24, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 24, 2015 Yes exFAT is needed for files larger than 4GB.Weird that the NX1 doesn't format it that way in-camera or that it doesn't span to multiple files!Still, 7 and a half mins of 4K per 4GB isn't bad.On the KineMINI in Cinema DNG that is about 4 seconds
ESGI Media
If a device formatted a SDHC card as anything other than FAT32 it would be violating the SDHC specification, as that card doesn't officially support it. The card would have to identify as SDXC for the camera to exFAT it. I reckon anyway.
