DreamVision
Hi,I recently shot a video with my A6000, and WOW, was it a night and day improvement over my Canons.I am considering getting an A7 as well. How do the two compare for video? Is the A7 the same quality wise? I know they both do AVCHD so are they exactly the same except for APSC vs FF?And I know the A7 II has xavc, so does it make it better than the other two? xenogears
Sadly the video of the A7 is lower in quality against the a6000, the image on the a7/r/II it lack of details and suffer of moire and aliasing problems. The only A7 to use in video is the a7s by a mile.
The Chris
Here are a couple of frames from the A7 (top) and A7s (bottom) to show the difference, SOOC, same, lens, same settings on each camera. The A7 is bad, real bad. Don't have the A6000 anymore so I can't compare. One body has the grip and the other doesn't, hence the difference in framing. noone
I don't think the A7 is all that bad depending on what you use it for.. It also is a bit easier as well thanks to having mic and headphones inputs.I am still just dabbling in video and was happy with the a7 and up to ISO 12800 for stills and video (just recording songs on a tripod or table). The A7s is better for video and goes to much higher ISOs for stills and video as well but for a stills camera that does ok amateur video, the A7 is ok to me. DreamVision
Thanks for the input fellas. That comparison reminds me of my 5D III (would be top) and the A6000 (would be bottom). The A7s is definitely the video-centric camera of the Alpha family. I'm just surprised that the A6000 video is that much better than the A7. Does not compute!I really wanted the A6000 quality in full frame. That would be the perfect 1080p duo for me.And it wouldn't affect the A7s, because that camera has 4K capability.
Stakers
You could always do a SpeedBooster with the a6000 to get near full frame.
