The Chris
I finally have a computer with enough horsepower to run Resolve, a 6-core trashcan Mac Pro. Now I want to try ML raw on the 5d3 to compare with the A7s. Can anyone share a quick rundown of your ML raw workflow? I'm editing with Premiere and FCPX and trying to learn Resolve. Thanks in advance.
QuickHitRecord
Here is what I do: mount MLV files with MLVFS (you can do this while they are still on the CF card), import them into Resolve, apply BMD Film 4K color space if desired, dial in white balance and exposure, export to ProResHQ or ProRes4444, and use these more manageable files to edit and grade as normal. The Chris
Thank you, just watched a few videos on MLVFS. I'm just starting with intro lessons on Resolve, so all of this is going to be a learning experience for me. I appreciate the help.
jcs
Wow- MLVFS is a very cool idea! Need to try this with Resolve!mlvrawviewer with ProRes 444 10-bit + CLog output is very handy, however the high-quality software only debayer + ProRes encoding isn't very fast (you can batch many files though). MLVFS with Resolve could be faster (GPU debayer, fast ProRes encoding). mlvrawviewer's default settings with CLog along with a few clicks to set WB and exposure is really fast and easy to get a nice ProRes file for continued work. Resolve's workflow isn't as fast if you simply want to get something decent into ProRes for further editing & grading in FCPX, PPro, etc. However once a bunch of clips have be added to Resolve's queue, it should process much faster.
