Micah Mahaffey
So I've noticed a slight flickering in Samsung NX1 footage from clips I've downloaded and seen online. Is this an issue with auto exposure or something? Or has this problem been fixed with firmware uodates?
Steve M.
So I've noticed a slight flickering in Samsung NX1 footage from clips I've downloaded and seen online. Is this an issue with auto exposure or something? Or has this problem been fixed with firmware uodates? You'd have to be a lot more specific on that, because I've shot quite a bit with this camera, and I haven't seen any flickering. Link the online footage you're referring to. Ed_David
same here - maybe light flickering - from your shutter - are you PAL or NTSC - and where are you shooting?
Micah Mahaffey
You can see what i'm referring to at 00:15 to 00:18. The exposure of the footage slightly increases. I've seen a lot of this happening in footage and am just curious what exactly it is. It also happens again at 01:29 in the 1080p footage. Micah Mahaffey
Its also noticeable here at 00:13 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhLrapp8-oI
xenogears
I'm pretty sure that must be user fault, leaving auto iso or Dynamic range plus or whatever is called in Samsung terms.
Geoff CB
Either user fault like xenogears states, or leftovers from those who still have the firmware 1.1 bug where the exposure would drift. This is fixed with updated firmware.
Steve M.
Its also noticeable here at 00:13 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhLrapp8-oII just looked at that, and to my eye that is a glitch in the video stream. I would bet his original footage doesn't have that at all. What the others are talking about, was early NX1 users experiencing a flickering when coming into a lighter part of the scene, it would appear the camera made a compensation, which went back and forth and up and down on this site and many other sites, and I really don't know if it was ever determined if it was indeed a camera issue. I know I never experienced it.

I do see what you're referring to, but if you look at 1:16 -1:24 it looks to me that whoever is clearly making an iris adjustment. I think that is also a slight iris adjustment at 00:18 as it's the same shot.
Micah Mahaffey
OK thanks! Glad to know its both fixed and or just user error.
